Yorkshire Dance is a Leeds-based arts organization that strives to promote and develop the art of dance in the region. Founded in 1984, the organization has since become one of the leading dance organizations in the country, with a mission to bring together artists, practitioners, and audiences in order to create a vibrant and diverse dance culture.

Programmes and Projects

Yorkshire Dance provides a range of programmes and projects to engage with the local community and to help nurture the development of dance. This includes the ‘Yorkshire Youth Dance Company’, which provides young people aged 11-19 with the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in contemporary dance. The organization also runs ‘Dance for Parkinson’s’, a weekly dance class for people living with Parkinson’s disease.

Events and Performances

Yorkshire Dance hosts a variety of events and performances throughout the year. These include the annual ‘Yorkshire Dance Festival’, which takes place in April, and ‘Yorkshire Dance Showcase’, a bi-annual event that showcases the work of Yorkshire-based choreographers and dancers. The organization also hosts regular workshops and masterclasses with professional dancers and choreographers.
