What Dancers Say About Welland School of Dancing

4.6/5 from 10 Google reviews.

My daughter has just started ballet classes here and I can't speak highly enough of WSD. The staff and teachers are helpful and engaging. She recently did a special Easter holidays ballet class and craft session centred around Peter Rabbit and my 4yo was buzzing afterwards! The only problem I have is I now have to try and remember ballet from (ahem) 30 or so years ago so I can help her practice!
Great place, I thoroughly recommend it *****— Katherine Nicholls

Professional well organised establishment. Highly recommend the Condition and Stretch class. Superb Instructor who not only challenges ones abilities but makes each class varied and fun.— Carol Ledgister

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you start ballroom dancing?

The usual route is a beginners' group class or an introductory lesson covering posture, timing and a few basic figures. You need no experience and no partner to begin.

What ballroom dance to learn first?

The waltz is a common first dance because its steady rhythm makes timing easier to grasp. The social foxtrot is another approachable option for relaxed dancing.

How hard is it to learn salsa?

The basic step is quick to learn, and most people manage it in their first session or two. Turns and confident partnering develop with time, and regular practice matters most.

Can a non-dancer learn salsa?

Yes. Salsa classes assume no background at all, so complete beginners are welcome and build up steadily.

Is it possible to learn ballet as an adult?

Yes. Adult ballet is aimed at beginners and develops strength, posture and flexibility at a manageable pace.

What age is too late to start ballet?

There is no cut-off age. Adults take up ballet at all stages of life, and classes adapt to suit whoever joins.
