Wedding Dance London is a dance school in the Nine Elms area of London, working from a studio near Ponton Road. It handles both regular group dance classes and, as the name suggests, bespoke first-dance lessons for couples getting married. It has earned warm reviews from people who found them through a simple online search and were glad they did.
Feedback describes patient, professional teachers such as Dora and Elena who put nervous beginners at ease and shape choreography around a couple's own ideas. It suits people who feel apprehensive about dancing in front of others and want that fear turned into something enjoyable.
Alongside its wedding work, it runs dance classes in London for general learners, with dance lessons in London available as both group sessions and private tuition. Complete beginners are guided through steps and timing at a gentle pace, and much of the appeal lies in short, tailored routines created for a specific song and occasion. Adult dance classes in London here are set up so those with no experience can build a performable dance within a handful of lessons.
First-timers, including couples who are total beginners, are exactly who the classes are built for. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that let you move and turn smoothly, and come ready to learn at your own pace; note that the studio can get busy at popular times.
The studio is in the Nine Elms district of south-west London, an area well connected by the city's transport network.
We found these guys on Google, just through a search when I was looking for something for my then-girlfriend, now wife’s birthday.
They handle both normal dance classes and private wedding dance classes. We went along to some beginners’ dance classes and found them really enjoyable and easy to follow. The classes were based around doing one Ballroom dance and one Latin dance each week. We would practice the same dances for 3 weeks and then move on to two different ones.
As we knew that they did wedding dance classes, naturally, when it came to our wedding dance we opted to try something spec— Ben Pilling
We booked dance lessons with Dora for our first dance at our wedding💃 My partner and I are beginners and were quite scared of dancing in front of all our guests, but Dora was a very patient teacher and made the dance lessons fun! The studio can be a bit full sometimes as there will be other people practicing with you at the same time, but it didn't really bother us. We can wholeheartedly recommend this studio if you want to practice your dance moves for your big day 😍— Mira L

We booked a 5 class wedding dance package with Flow Dance – best decision! We chose a song and Emma – our fantastic teacher – came up with a routine that felt unique and was easy for us to learn within a few lessons (we had both never danced before). They are super professional, friendly and patient. The first dance at the wedding was a total success. Thank you Flow Dance and Emma!— Vanessa Weissenberger
Start by joining a beginners' class or booking an introductory lesson where the basics are taught slowly. No partner or experience is required to begin; get in touch to see what suits you.
The waltz is a popular first dance because of its easy three-count rhythm, while the rumba helps you feel partner connection. For a wedding, the choice often depends on your chosen song.
The rumba and cha-cha are common starting points, as their steps are clear and rhythmic. Many beginners find them a comfortable way into Latin dancing.
Yes, Latin styles work well for beginners because the basic patterns repeat and are easy to build on. They are also lively and fun, which helps keep motivation up.
Allowing a couple of months gives comfortable time to learn and rehearse a routine without pressure. That said, teachers here have shaped lovely dances in just a few lessons, so contact them even if time is short.
Most couples perform a single first dance, though some add a second or a group dance later in the evening. It comes down to personal preference and how much you want to prepare.
