Classes & Dance Styles

What Dancers Say About The Catholic Church of Our Lady, St. John’s Wood

4.8/5 from 45 Google reviews.

There is a Mass to suit every taste on a Sunday. The 9:00 well attended Family Mass is a simple sung Mass with hymns and a cantor. The 10:30 High Mass is a little piece of Heaven on Earth. The latin choir sings a very broad repertoire of polyphonic music to a standard you would hear in a Cathedral. If an early start is not for you then the 12:00 Mass is perfect. The recently formed junior choir sings at this Mass and is well worth hearing. The said evening Mass is another simple Mass to end the week with. There is continually adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.— Music Man

I park here daily. It’s £5 for a whole day. Ensure you’re parked within the bays only and clearly display the parking slip on your dashboard. The envelopes and slips can be found where the church staff park at the side. Where the office is. Parking is first come, first served. It gets full very quickly in the early hours of the weekdays as staff members from nearby tend to park there.— Suha E.

z place of worship for Catholic Christians in the St John's wood and Maida vale areas. there are daily masses and numerous the weekends. Interior and exterior are plain. There are a few statues, the stations of the cross and paintings on windows. A young choir sings at mass. not a church for visiting, just praying— Giovanni Luis Crocioni

Great church with amazing priests (Fr Kevin and Fr Ben). Have been going there for 5 years with our family. Very friendly parish. They have an amazing book keeper as well— ANTONY STEPHEN

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to learn ballet as an adult?

Yes, many adults take up ballet through beginner classes designed for grown-ups. You would need a dedicated dance school for this, as the venue named here is a church rather than a teaching studio.

What age is too late to start ballet?

There is no age at which recreational ballet becomes off-limits, and people begin well into later life. Only professional performance training carries real age constraints.

What is the best Latin dance for beginners?

Salsa and bachata are usually recommended first because their basic steps are simple and widely taught. A specialist Latin dance school would be the place to start, not this church.

Is Latin dance good for beginners?

Latin dance is very beginner-friendly, combining straightforward footwork with sociable, upbeat music. Look for a dedicated class, as this listing refers to a place of worship.

How long before a wedding should you take dance lessons?

Two to three months is a comfortable window for a wedding first dance, allowing relaxed practice. To arrange lessons you would approach a dance school rather than the parish.

How many dances do couples do at a wedding?

Most couples prepare one choreographed first dance, though some add a parent dance or a livelier second number. A wedding-dance specialist can advise on what suits your day.
