Tappy Toes Chalfont runs music-and-movement sessions for babies and young children, and parents rate it highly for its energy and fun. Reviews describe an enthusiastic class full of songs, props and dancing that keeps little ones thoroughly entertained. It is designed for the very youngest, with space for shy children to join in at their own pace. The focus is joyful early movement rather than formal dance training.
These are pre-school sessions built around music, props and playful movement, led with the sort of energy parents repeatedly mention. One reviewer noted a shy child gradually growing in confidence over just a few weeks, while another praised how welcome children are to sit and watch before joining in. The classes also cater for parties, bringing the same lively spirit to celebrations.
The sessions centre on song, dance and prop-based play aimed at babies and toddlers, so there is no partner or set routine involved. Children move along to the music at their own comfort level, with plenty of space to take their time. The emphasis is firmly on fun and early development. Parents or carers take part alongside their little ones.
Check the class time and location beforehand, then arrive ready for a lively, informal session. There is no pressure for your child to join in straight away, as watching from the sidelines is perfectly welcome. Comfortable clothes for your little one and a relaxed attitude are all you need.
Young families across the Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross area value local pre-school activities, and a fun music-and-movement class is a popular fixture in the weekly routine.
We had a Tappy Toes party for my daughter’s 5th garden party and it was a huge hit! Despite the crazy heat that day, Sara’s incredible energy levels kept all the kids entertained thoroughly. My daughter (and younger son) absolutely loved singing and dancing to some of the iconic Tappy Toes songs, as well as some specially selected personalised choices. The parachute play at the end was so fun too! Thank you Sara for making it a memorable occasion for all 😊— Selina Shah
My 2 year old loves tappy toes on Wednesdays in Pinner. The music is great, props are really fun and he really enjoys dancing along. There are some days when he wants to sit at the back and watch for a couple of songs – we’re always given lots of space for him to take his time and join back in whenever he’s ready, with no pressure at all. It’s also a very fun class for me to join in – the closest I’ve been to going out dancing for a while!— Vicki Greenfield
I started taking my daughter to Tappy toes when the most recent lockdown eased and despite all of the ongoing restrictions, Sara still manages to keep the class fun and interactive. My little girl has been shy in the class, but now we are on our 4th class I am starting to see great development and she is really coming out of her shell which is just what I wanted. Sara is patient, understanding and fun for children to be around.— Ruby Peacock
This class is brilliant. My daughter has learnt so much and taken to it so quickly. Her confidence has built throughout the sessions, and she loves the props and routines – she even does some of them at home!
The staff are also wonderful, really lovely teachers to make the children feel safe and comfortable, and the admin team are always hot on it at replying and super friendly.
Thank you so much 🙂— Lauren Jones-Mullins
Yes. These are group sessions for young children with no partner involved, and each child moves along to the music at their own pace. A parent or carer joins in alongside them.
For little ones, comfortable clothes they can move freely in and soft shoes or bare feet work well. Nothing special is required beyond something practical for active play.
Fees depend on whether you pay per session or book a block, so it is best to ask directly. Pre-school classes often offer a taster session to see if your child enjoys it.
For babies and toddlers, playful music-and-movement sessions are ideal, as they develop coordination and confidence through fun rather than formal steps. It is a gentle first taste of dancing.
This class is designed for young children rather than adults, but adults generally start best with a relaxed, beginner-friendly style. Picking something enjoyable makes it easier to keep going.
Light activity can support general wellbeing, but anyone with a heart condition should check with their doctor first. A medical professional can advise on what level of movement is safe.
