Stagecoach Performing Arts serves Trowbridge, Frome and Westbury, teaching young people across dance, drama and singing from The Spectrum at the Clarendon Academy. Parents describe children who have grown in confidence and found a real sense of belonging through their classes. The emphasis is on building both performance skills and self-assurance for life beyond the stage. It is a school aimed firmly at children and young performers.
Part of the wider Stagecoach network, this branch delivers performing arts tuition across three towns from its Trowbridge base. Dance sits alongside drama and singing, and the teaching is geared towards developing young people's talent and confidence together.
Dance classes in Trowbridge here form one strand of a broader performing arts programme, teaching movement, rhythm and stagecraft as part of a rounded training. Ballet classes in Trowbridge and other dance styles help young performers build technique they can carry into shows and performances. For children who prefer group choreography over partner work, elements akin to line dancing in Trowbridge appear in the routines they learn. Because the school also covers drama and singing, pupils develop expression and stage presence alongside their steps.
Young performers should come in clothing they can move freely in and shoes suited to active class work. It helps to let staff know a child is new so they can be settled into the group and made to feel at home.
Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire, with Frome and Westbury nearby and well served by local transport.
Both my children attend this school. Fantastic teaching talents and skills and the business owners are true professionals. They harness talent and grow confidence and the team are passionate about performing arts. This school and the lessons are without a doubt a safe and happy place and I would recommend any parent to enroll their child in the future. Notable mention as well is that during lockdown they launched FREE zoom classes for all pupils as a gift which is lovely for the children.— clare Williamson
Stagecoach has given my children confidence and the ability to express themselves through learning and fun. My eldest daughter has found a love for the stage and stagecoach has given her platform to perform. The teachers are amazing and the hard work that is put into the organisation of the group is second to none. I would recommend stagecoach to any parent, as important life skills are developed in a fun and inspiring way. Thank you stagecoach!— Sarah Morris
A truly amazing group of teachers who work so hard to not only support their pupils in performing arts but also to be in successful in life.
Stagecoach is very much our daughter's happy place- she loves her Stagecoach family. Without their support and care I don't think my daughter would be the confident, happy teenager she is today.Communication is superb- Highly recommended.— Lucy Self
Stagecoach Trowbridge and Frome has professional and supportive teachers who all have first hand experience of the performing arts. It’s given us amazing performance opportunities including two trips to perform at Disneyland Paris and 6 West End performances. Our 5 years here have been life changing for my daughter…..it’s her happy place.— Kate Archer
Ballet can be learned at any age, though this branch focuses on young performers. Adults wanting ballet should look for a school with dedicated adult classes.
There is no age at which recreational ballet is out of reach. Many people take it up well into adulthood.
Common steps include the grapevine, the step-touch, the kick-ball-change, the pivot turn and the shuffle. They combine to make up most beginner dances.
The simplest line dances use short, repeating sequences. A teacher will usually begin with a routine made from just a few basic moves.
Yes. Much dance, including the group choreography taught here, needs no partner at all. Pupils work within the class on their own steps.
Comfortable, flexible clothing and shoes suited to the style are ideal. For young performers, anything that allows easy movement works well to begin with.
