Savvy Studios

Savvy Studios in Hayle is a dance school with a strong local following, where families return year after year. Parents describe Claire and Aidan going out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, whether newcomers or long-standing pupils. Alongside dance, the studio has introduced reformer Pilates, broadening what it offers to the community. For those in west Cornwall, it is a school that clearly builds lasting relationships with its members.

About Savvy Studios

The studio combines dance training for children with movement and fitness for adults, including reformer Pilates that reviewers value for its individual attention. Long-term families speak of the confidence and growth their children have gained over many years. It is a place people describe as caring as much as capable.

Classes & Dance Styles

Dance classes cater largely to children, with ballet featuring among the styles that pupils progress through over time. For adults, reformer Pilates offers a low-impact way to build strength and body awareness with close guidance. Because provision spans dance and fitness, it is worth asking which sessions match your age and goals. The unifying theme is attentive teaching that notices the individual.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, and bring shoes suited to the class you are joining. For Pilates, grippy socks are usually advisable, so it is worth checking beforehand. Let the team know you are new and they will help you settle in.

For the past 10months I have been taking my daughter to her ballet class at savvy studios and what an amazing place it is. My daughter has thrived under the studios and they have helped to mould and shape the person she is today. I cannot recommend the dance studios enough, they are inclusive for all and such a wonderful family to be part of. We have had so many memorable experiences that we as a family will always treasure. I was delighted to discover that there is Reformers Pilates locally. I have been working with Clare for 6 months now and from the start noticed the increasing difference it makes to me in myself and my work.
I really appreciate Clare’s attention to detail to the individual, and carefully works with me with specific exercises each session, depending on how I am and what I have been doing, and need. For example i had an instance of an overworked or “pinged” a muscle, and some lower back pain. The use of the reformer and Clare’s guidance has left me leaving a session with a sense of relief, spaci— Demelza Rouncefield

Clare’s passion for movement and for sharing her knowledge and skills with others just shines out of her, making her studio a joyful place to be. Her group Pilates classes and her 1:1 classes always leave me feeling relaxed, energised, and excited about what I’ve learned. Clare was also my supervising teacher during my training with Body Control Pilates, and her generosity with her time and knowledge was instrumental in helping me realise my dream of becoming a Pilates teacher. I have also seen shows which demonstrate the quality of Clare’s astonishing dance teaching. I highly recommend Savvy — Lynn Wise

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you learn to dance without a partner?

Yes. Styles such as ballet are danced individually within a class, so no partner is needed. You build your own technique and confidence as you go.

What should I wear to a beginner dance class?

Comfortable, flexible clothing and shoes suited to the style work well. For Pilates, grippy socks are typically recommended, so it is worth confirming in advance.

How much does a dance class usually cost?

Prices vary by class type, length and whether they are paid per term or session. Contact the studio directly for current rates.

Which dance is best for beginners?

It depends on your aims. Ballet builds technique and posture, while low-impact options like Pilates suit those wanting gentle strength and flexibility.

What is the best dance to start as an adult?

Adults can start with almost any style. Many enjoy ballet for technique, while reformer Pilates offers a controlled, low-impact route into movement.

Is dancing good for heart failure?

Gentle movement benefits many people, but anyone with heart failure should consult their doctor first. Sessions can then be adapted to a safe, comfortable level.
