Sarah Taylor Dance Studios in Batley has become a fixture for local families, with some children dancing there for the better part of a decade. Reviews mention youngsters starting in beginner movement classes before moving into ballet and tap, and finding a genuine love of dance along the way. The studio welcomes both children and adults, and the passion of the teaching team comes up repeatedly. First shows are remembered fondly, suggesting performance is handled with care rather than pressure.
Run by Sarah alongside her family and a wider team, the studio is described as friendly and supportive throughout. Long-standing families point to consistent teaching and a warm atmosphere across the years. It is a place where children build confidence as much as technique.
The timetable covers popular children's disciplines including ballet and tap, with early-years movement classes for the youngest dancers. For anyone searching dance lessons Batley families trust, the studio offers a clear path from first steps through to more advanced work. Adults are welcome too, so the school is not solely for children. Performance opportunities give students something to work towards when they are ready.
Comfortable, movement-friendly clothing is all you need to begin, along with a water bottle. Specific footwear such as ballet or tap shoes can be sorted once you know a class suits you. Arrive early so a first-timer has a chance to settle.
The studio draws families from across Batley and the surrounding towns, and is a well-known part of the area's dance community.
My 6 year old daughter has been attending Sarah Taylors Dance school for nearly 2 years now. She did Funky Movers and now Ballet and Tap. She really enjoys coming to the classes. She took part in her first show recently and loved the experience.
Sarah, her family and her team are all really great teachers and friendly. They treat all their dancers as individuals, taking their faiths and requirements into account.
The prices for the classes are also very reasonable.I have hired out the studios in the past, and it was a flawless and easy process. Well equipped, clean and spacious.

I cannot recommend this dance school highly enough. My daughter has danced at Sarah Taylor Dance studios for 9 years and takes a lot of different dance classes. She has developed a love for dance & made some of her closest friends here.
The teaching is always friendly & supportive which has encouraged her to try lots of different styles of dance & grow in confidence every year.
All the way through lockdown Sarah Taylor’s have managed to keep most of the classes going using zoom which has been amazing. It’s kept my daughter busy, in contact with her friends & up to date with her work so tha— Nicola Smith
I have been going to this dance school since I was 3 years old and I am nearly 8, I love it so much. I have learnt so so much about dance and performing. It has been amazing for my confidence and for making loads of really good friends! I love all my teachers and my favorite Miss Sarah is fantastic. I have learnt that working very hard pays off in my exams and I am always placed at my competitions. I forget all my worries when I dance. I love being pushed to be the best I can be and I am grateful for all the guidance and support I get from everyone at Sarah Taylor Dance Studios. It is like a b— Poppy Adcock
Yes, many styles including ballet, tap and various solo forms need no partner at all. Even partner dances are usually taught with rotation, so you can start on your own.
Wear comfortable clothes that let you move freely and shoes appropriate to the style, though a smooth-soled shoe is fine to begin. Bring water and avoid anything too restrictive.
Prices differ between schools and depend on class length and payment plan, so ask directly for up-to-date figures. A trial class often helps you decide before paying for a term.
The best beginner style is one you enjoy, but disciplines with structured, repeating steps such as ballet, tap or a social dance make comfortable entry points. Trying a taster is the surest way to choose.
Adults often do well starting with something sociable and structured, whether that is ballroom, a Latin style or an adult ballet or tap class. Pick one that appeals and the technique follows.
Dancing can be a gentle form of aerobic exercise, but anyone with heart failure or another medical condition should speak to their doctor before starting. A professional can advise on a safe level of activity.
