About Us

The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society Edinburgh Branch (RSCDS Edinburgh Branch) was established in the early 1950s and is a non-profit organisation that provides services to promote and preserve the traditional Scottish Country Dance. We are affiliated to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, which is the international organisation for the preservation and development of Scottish Country Dancing.

Our mission is to promote and develop Scottish Country Dance and to provide a range of services to our members, including classes, social events, competitions, and performances. We also provide support to other branches of the RSCDS, and to the wider Scottish Country Dancing community.

We are based in Edinburgh, Scotland, and our members come from all over the UK and beyond. We have a strong presence in the local community, and we are actively involved in the promotion and development of Scottish Country Dancing throughout Scotland.

What We Offer

RSCDS Edinburgh Branch provides a range of services to our members, including classes, social events, competitions, and performances.

Classes: We offer classes for all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced. Our classes are taught by experienced teachers who are passionate about Scottish Country Dancing and have a deep understanding of the tradition.

Social Events: We host a range of social events throughout the year, including ceilidhs, dances, and parties. These events are open to members and non-members alike, and provide an opportunity to meet new people and have fun.

Competitions: We organise and run competitions throughout the year, including the Scottish Country Dance Championship and the Edinburgh Cup. These competitions are open to all levels of experience, and provide an opportunity for dancers to showcase their skills and compete for prizes.

Performances: We also provide opportunities for our members to perform in a variety of venues, from local theatres to international stages. Our performances are always well-received, and we are proud to be able to showcase the talent of our members.

How to Join

Membership of RSCDS Edinburgh Branch is open to anyone interested in Scottish Country Dancing. To become a member, simply fill out our online membership form and pay the annual subscription fee.

Once you have become a member, you will be able to take part in all of our activities, including classes, social events, competitions, and performances. You will also receive regular newsletters and updates about our activities, and be able to take advantage of discounts on tickets for our events.
