Pussycat Poles runs pole-based dance and fitness classes in Maidstone, aimed at adults who want a workout that feels more like a night out than a gym session. It is a women-friendly, group-led programme where strength and confidence build week by week. The classes suit complete beginners as much as those working up through the levels.
The reviews are warm and consistent, praising a teacher who breaks moves down patiently and unites the group so nobody feels left behind. Several people mention arriving nervous and staying for years, which says a lot about the encouraging, supportive tone of the room.
Sessions are structured by level, so newcomers start with the fundamentals of spins, holds and controlled movement before progressing to more demanding sequences. While the focus is pole fitness rather than partner dancing, people searching more broadly for dance classes in Maidstone or adult dance classes in Maidstone will find a genuine strength-and-movement workout here. If you are hoping for ballroom dancing, salsa classes or line dancing in Maidstone specifically, it is worth asking what is on the current timetable, as this studio's speciality is pole. Expect a warm-up, skill practice and a chance to link moves together as you improve.
A first class is friendly and hands-on, with the teacher guiding you through beginner moves at a comfortable pace. Fitted clothing that leaves the arms and legs free helps with grip, and it is best to skip lotions on the day; the studio can advise on anything else before you attend.
The class is held in Maidstone and is easy to reach from around the town. Confirm the exact meeting point and parking when you book in.
A brilliant dance and fitness class. I love coming to Pussycat Poles every week! Emma is so lovely, she's a wonderful teacher and she always takes time out to help anyone who might be struggling. Emma really breaks down the moves so it is much easier to learn. I've been going to pole for over 6 years now and I've noticed such a change in my body since I started. My arms, legs and stomach are so much more toned, and I've noticed my strength and flexibility have really improved! It's a great alternative to working out at the gym, you don't realise how much of a workout it is because you're too b— MissRosey xo
I would highly recommend Pussycat Poles to anyone! I’ve been going for four years, after spending a long time wanting to start pole but being too nervous too. Emma teaches the Maidstone class which I go too and she is fabulous, she unites the group and encourages us all in supporting each other, she tailors the sessions to each of our personal needs where required and is always happy to help us with anything. If you’re nervous about going and being in a group of people you don’t know then I promise you shouldn’t be! I’m so glad I turned up and stuck with it – prepare for work hard but be rewar— Megan Baxter
Wouldn't go anywhere else for pole! Currently on Level 3 with Emma teaching me in Maidstone. Have had a few other ladies teach me too on the odd day who are also amazing. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and is definitely a welcoming environment. I have learnt so much and excited to learn more. I have also become so much stronger and get excited for each and every lesson. Emma is an amazing teacher. Her method of teaching is great. She is always on hand to help and re show you moves when you forget where your left or right leg should be for example. She is happy for you to ask for more help— Megan Bishop

The usual route is a beginners' group class where you learn posture, timing and a few basic steps before combining them. As Pussycat Poles specialises in pole fitness, it is worth contacting a dedicated ballroom class if that is your main goal.
Many people begin with the waltz for its steady rhythm, or a social favourite like the foxtrot, as both teach the fundamentals of leading and following. A ballroom-focused teacher can recommend the best starting point for you.
Salsa is very approachable at beginner level, built on a repeating basic step you can pick up in a single lesson. The challenge and the fun come later, as you add turns and partner work over time.
Yes, salsa is one of the most beginner-friendly social dances and assumes no prior experience. A good class starts everyone from the same basic step.
Line dancing typically draws on the grapevine, kick-ball-change, heel and toe touches, shuffles and simple turns. These few building blocks appear across countless routines once you know them.
Short four-wall dances with a repeating pattern are the easiest way in, since the same sequence returns on each wall. A beginner-oriented class will always start with one of these.
