A Variety of Performance Spaces

Pleasance Courtyard offers a variety of performance spaces, from the main auditorium, to the intimate Cabaret Bar, to the outdoor courtyard. The main auditorium is a large, flexible space that can accommodate up to 800 people, and is suitable for a variety of different shows, from musicals to comedy to drama. The Cabaret Bar is a more intimate space, with seating for up to 200 people, and is ideal for comedy, cabaret and music performances. The outdoor courtyard is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink before or after a show.

A Rich History

Pleasance Courtyard has a rich history, having been the home of the Edinburgh International Festival since its inception in 1947. The venue has seen some of the biggest names in the performing arts, including Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Judi Dench and Sir John Gielgud. The venue is also the birthplace of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which has been held at Pleasance Courtyard since its inception in 1947.

A Variety of Events

Pleasance Courtyard offers a variety of events throughout the year, from the Edinburgh International Festival in August, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August/September, to the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in October. The venue also hosts a range of other events, such as film screenings, workshops, lectures and exhibitions.
