My daughter joined P2D when it first opened and it has become a massive part of her life. The teachers are amazing and very encouraging. The classes are varied and fun and she has been given many opportunities along the way – including performing on stage at Disneyland Paris. It has been lovely to see her confidence grow and to be part of a growing dance academy. Strong friendships have been formed not only with the children but parents too and we regard P2D as our dance family. I would highly recommend this dance school.— Rachel Wilson
Lovely dance area, nice little coffee area and kids had fun.— Andy G
The best way in is a beginners' class where the basic frame and steps are taught in manageable pieces. You do not need a partner or any experience beforehand.
The waltz is a popular first dance because its even tempo makes the fundamentals clear. The social foxtrot is another gentle option for beginners.
Yes, adults regularly take up ballet and make steady progress. Adult classes are designed to build strength, posture and flexibility over time.
There is no age at which ballet becomes off-limits. Adults of any age can begin, with lessons tailored to their fitness and mobility.
Common moves include the grapevine, the kick-ball-change, the shuffle, the pivot turn and the heel dig. Beginner routines usually string a few of these together.
A routine with a short, repeating pattern and few turns is the simplest to learn. Teachers tend to start beginners on an easy dance first.
