New Groove Creative is a street dance school based in Ashford, Kent, running classes for children as well as fitness-focused sessions for adults. It has a lively, contemporary feel built around energetic, rhythm-driven dance. The school is well liked for its enthusiastic teaching and welcoming groups. It suits young dancers and grown-ups who want to move, have fun and get fit.
Reviewers highlight a genuinely warm, welcoming group and a teacher whose enthusiasm keeps people motivated, with several saying they feel more comfortable here than in other dance settings. Children are praised for growing in confidence, and the adult fitness class comes across as fun rather than intimidating.
Street dance classes here cover grooves, rhythm and choreography, with children's groups building coordination and confidence and adult sessions leaning towards a dance-based workout. Classes typically start with a warm-up before learning moves and short routines, and holiday activities such as summer schools are mentioned by families. Ask about age groups and whether a class matches the level you are after.
Newcomers can expect a friendly, upbeat welcome and steps broken down so you can keep up from the start. Comfortable, sporty clothing and trainers or flat shoes you can move in are all you need.
The classes run in and around Ashford in Kent, reachable by car and local transport from the surrounding area.
I cannot recommend this dance group enough. My 7 year old is part of the GrooveKIDZ group and she has grown so much in herself and her dancing since starting the online lessons in lockdown. Ellie is an amazing dance teacher and role model to these girls and makes everyone of them feel a part of an amazing community.
They have been lucky enough to perform in front of people this year which has finished the year off nicely! We are looking forward to what the next school year of dancing can bring.
Thank you Ellie for all you do for them 🌟— Elena Ferreira
Going to GrooveFIT with Ellie has been the best form of exercise I’ve ever done. It’s a fun class in a lovely welcoming group. Feel far more comfortable than previous dance exercise classes I’ve done. Ellie is such a fab, lovely and enthusiastic teacher, which keeps you motivated! You don’t have to be perfect, just keep moving and with the music choices it’s hard not too!!— Amy Carpenter

Both my girls thoroughly enjoy going to dance on a Saturday morning doing grooverB’s . They love the music, the dance moves and they always come out with a smile on their faces!
Ellie is a lovely dance teacher, very approachable, enthusiastic and has lots of energy!— Zurina Handley
Yes, street dance is danced solo, so there is no need for a partner. You learn as part of a group, working on your own moves and routines.
Comfortable, sporty clothing and supportive trainers or flat shoes work well for street dance. Bring water and dress in layers you can move freely in.
Prices depend on the class and whether you pay per session or in a block, so ask the school for current rates. Taster sessions are often available.
Street dance is a friendly starting point because it is solo, energetic and forgiving, though the best style depends on what you enjoy. The teacher can point you to the right class.
For adults wanting fun and fitness, an upbeat solo style such as street dance is a great entry point, as this school's adult sessions show. Something you find enjoyable is what you are most likely to stick with.
Gentle, regular movement can be part of a healthy lifestyle, but anyone with heart failure or another medical condition should check with their doctor before starting a new activity. Always follow professional medical advice about what is safe for you.
