Great online classes offered during lockdown from a very competent teacher. I can’t wait to see these develop as the new school opens. I am a Miss Mollie’s very proud mum so am bound to say positive things but have always looked at my girls’ achievements (we have three daughters!) with a bit of a critical eye, always hoping that they will gain from this!? That said, I am also commenting from the point of view as a user for the online lessons which were a great workout and very enjoyable. The Mini Movers was great fun with lots of visual and auditory aids to encourage little ones to want to — Karen Kilpatrick
My daughter attended the 2 free trail/workshop sessions in 2020 and started the lessons in January. Although due to lockdown, these had to be through zoom until April 17th, they were amazing. My daughter has loved every session and learnt so much. She'd never done dance classes before she joined Motion Dance Academy. Miss Mollie id a fantastic teacher and clearly loves what she does. My daughter was 4 when she started and even attended dance on her 5th birthday as she didn't want to miss it because she loves it so much. Would highly recommend Motion Dance Academy to anyone looking to start dan— Melanie L
Miss Mollie is absolutely amazing! I knew from the trial class that her dance school was perfect for my daughter who is extremely shy. Miss Mollie is very passionate about dance and helping the children feel confident and comfortable. Thank you so much Mollie! Do not hesitate to enroll your child into Motion Dance Academy you will not regret it.— Keira Ayala
Miss Mollie is just the most wonderful dance teacher. She is kind, understanding and includes everyone regardless of their situation. My daughter adores both her and her classes. All the others who helpẃith the classes and the uniform are just as wonderful. There is such a great atmosphere there as well. Cannot recommend them all highly enough.— Fay J
You start by joining a beginners' ballroom class, where the hold, posture and a first dance are taught. No partner or experience is needed to begin.
The waltz is a common first dance because its steady rhythm is easy to count. The social foxtrot is another gentle starting point, and a teacher can guide you.
Salsa is straightforward to begin, with the basic step picked up within a few sessions. Building fluency takes practice, but the basics come quickly.
Yes, salsa is regularly taught to people with no dance background. Beginner classes concentrate on the basic timing so anyone can join.
Common basics include the grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and shuffle. Line dances mostly arrange these familiar moves into different sequences.
Short, repetitive routines with a single set of counts are the easiest to start with. Ask the school which beginner dance they are currently teaching, as it changes over time.
