Kelly's Dance Studio is a dance school offering lessons for couples and groups, led by teachers who specialise in helping complete beginners find their feet. It caters to people preparing for a special occasion as well as those learning purely for pleasure. Wedding couples, absolute novices and hobby dancers all feature among its students. It is a personal, tuition-led setting rather than a large academy.
Students describe teachers who genuinely find the dancer within, adapting to how each person learns, and who go out of their way to support their groups. Couples who arrived as self-confessed non-dancers speak of learning real dances and having fun along the way. The studio also hires out to groups, and those experiences are remembered fondly too.
Classes here range from social ballroom dances such as the social foxtrot through to lessons tailored around a specific goal like a wedding dance. Complete beginners are taken from the very start, with teaching that adapts to the individual pair rather than a fixed script. Couples preparing for an occasion can work on a routine at their own pace, while others simply learn to enjoy moving together. It is a flexible, tuition-focused approach to dance lessons.
Newcomers, including those who have never danced beyond a casual bop, are made comfortable from the first lesson. Wear something you can move in and shoes with a smooth sole that let you turn easily. Expect patient, personal teaching that meets you exactly where you are.
As a private studio, it is best to confirm the location and travel details directly when you get in touch. Checking parking and access in advance will make your first visit smoother.
Outstanding! My partner Liz and I had never been anywhere near formal dancing; we “bop” and that’s it. We had to attend classes at Kelly’s Dance Studio because of a school’s annual ball; the children were being taught by Keith and Kornelia at Kelly’s but Liz was going to have to dance with her son at the ball, so I went along to Saturday sessions to be her learning partner.
We thought it would be dull – waltz, foxtrot and cha-cha-cha, and I was particularly not keen. And… we loved it. Keith did most of the classes. He is a born teacher. Dancing together properly is huge fun and really loving a— Laurie
My husband and I took a half a dozen dance lessons for our wedding dance. Not only did we learn social foxtrot we had a lot of fun along the way.
Keith and Kornelia are fantastic teachers and are able to find the dancer within! Like any great teacher they know how everyone one learns differently and are able to find ways to let your body, mind and partner to work together.
I would highly reccommend Kellys Dance Studio and love that it is a family business.— Nartasha Baker

He went out of his way to even have a word in front of my team when they wernt doing so well near the time of competition. With his help we came third place out of 60 teams in The SSE ARENA WEMBLYand big thank you to him and his wife. Raj and noeline— Dance With Prabu
Danced here for 3 years, Keith the owner has great team of teachers. If you ever fancy learning ballroom I highly recommend this place. They teach kids to adults, all sorts of dance styles taught. You can even go into
competitions. They regularly hold social evenings and club events through out the year too.— John Champney
Yes, many styles are danced solo, and even in partner dancing a teacher can work with you one to one. It is worth asking how lessons are arranged so you know what suits you.
Comfortable clothes you can move freely in and shoes with a smooth sole are ideal. Steer clear of heavy grip on the sole so you can turn without catching.
Prices depend on whether you have private lessons or group sessions and how many you book. The best step is to contact the studio for current rates.
The best beginner dance is one you will enjoy enough to stick with, though slower social dances are a gentle place to start. A teacher can point you towards the right fit.
Many adults begin with a social ballroom dance because the basics are approachable and quickly rewarding. Your ideal starting point really depends on the music and style you enjoy.
Light dancing can be a gentle form of activity, but anyone with heart failure should check with their doctor first. A medical professional can advise what is safe for you.
