Joze is so so much more than a dance school: it is a family, it’s a place where you get support, fun, make friends and build confidence. At every level of skill and age, each student is treated like a performer and always with the aim of progression and refinement. Joze taught me that hard work and dedication really pays off, and it provided me with a support network outside of my school and family which I am still so grateful for. The classes themselves were always challenging, exciting and dynamic, and pushed each student to their own ability. Team Joze!!!— Livia Hammond

Jo has excelled herself yet again as an adaptable dance teacher who can cater to any situation. She has not only kept quality dance classes going through lockdown, but has also provided an escape from the day to day lockdown life, putting on things like an amazing quiz (with the help of miss Charlotte!). Her consistent classes help provide structure to a day and I thoroughly enjoy them every week! Thanks jo!— Ella Shuttleworth

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you learn to dance without a partner?

Yes. Plenty of dance forms are learned solo, and schools regularly welcome individuals who arrive on their own. You can build technique and confidence without bringing a partner along.

What should I wear to a beginner dance class?

Comfortable clothing that lets you move freely is ideal for a first class. Bring supportive footwear, and ask the school in advance if a particular style needs specific shoes.

How much does a dance class usually cost?

Prices vary by school, class length and whether you book singly or in a block. It is best to contact the school directly for current rates rather than rely on a general figure.

Which dance is best for beginners?

Many beginners start with a style that has a clear, repeatable rhythm, as this makes the early steps easier to absorb. The right choice depends on what appeals to you, so it helps to try a taster session.

What is the best dance to start as an adult?

Adults often begin with a social style that can be enjoyed at a relaxed pace and built on over time. Choosing something you genuinely enjoy tends to matter more than the specific form.

Is dancing good for heart failure?

Any exercise decision relating to a heart condition should be discussed with your GP or a medical professional first. They can advise on whether gentle dancing is appropriate for your situation.
