JHM Dance & Cheer Limited is a dance school in Broxburn that teaches a broad spread of styles to children and adults alike. Families describe it as somewhere youngsters begin very young and keep coming back year after year. It suits parents looking for more than a weekly hobby, and grown-ups who fancy giving dance a go too.
The tone that comes through most often is one of belonging, with several families calling the studio a second home rather than simply a class they attend. Teachers are described as friendly and encouraging, keen to draw out confidence as much as technique. It tends to appeal to those who want their child to grow in self-assurance while learning to move.
Classes span a range of disciplines, from foundational dance styles through to Acro and Cheer, with options grouped so pupils can find a level that fits. Sessions typically build technique step by step, mixing warm-ups, skill work and routines that pupils can be proud of. Whether a child is just starting out or wants to stretch themselves further, there is usually a class shaped around their stage.
A newcomer can expect a warm reception and staff who take the time to settle first-timers in. Comfortable clothing you can move freely in and a bottle of water are a sensible start, and the teachers will guide you on anything specific once you arrive.
The studio sits within Broxburn and is reachable by the usual local routes into the town.
My daughter started at JHM at 2 1/2 years old. She absolutely loves it and learns so many different dances. JHM doesn’t just feel like a dance studio it feels like a 2nd home to us. It’s not just about dancing it also gives the children/adults confidence. A few years ago my daughter would not even go on stage and now she’s competing against other dance schools. I don’t think she would of done this if it wasn’t for her teachers at JHM so so proud of her!!
Thank you JHM for letting Mia shine.xx— Jenn Scott
My daughter has been dancing at JHM since she was 3. We have both loved being part if the JHM family. My daughter has enjoyed learning lots of different dance styles and has lots of options of classes to suit her. She recently started Acro & Cheer… the studio is very impresive, love the sprung floor. All of the teachers are friendly and professional making the JHM experience a joy to be part of. My daughter recently did the summer workshop which she loved, I highly recommend it.— Wendy Cooper

I never thought it would get back into dancing after injury in my early teens, but here I am, age 28 back to Highland and Tap at JHM with the best group of gals❤️. We’ve danced in shows, competitions and even for charity nights – so much variety and most of all, support! Everyone at JHM is welcoming, supportive and genuinely wants you to succeed. I would highly recommend JHM to anyone looking to get into dancing, from tots to adults – they have it all!!— Chelsea Martin
Yes, plenty of dance styles are learned solo, and many classes are built around individual pupils rather than couples. It is a good idea to check with the school which of its classes are solo-friendly.
Comfortable clothing that lets you move easily is ideal, along with footwear suited to the style you are trying. If you are unsure, the studio can advise before your first session.
Costs vary by the type and length of class and whether you book weekly or in blocks. Contact the school directly for current pricing.
That depends on what appeals to you, though styles with clear, repeatable steps tend to be gentle starting points. The teachers can point you towards a class that matches your interests.
Adults often begin with a style they enjoy watching, since motivation matters more than any single 'best' choice. Ask the studio which of its classes welcome adult beginners.
Gentle movement can form part of an active lifestyle, but anyone with a heart condition should speak to their doctor before starting. Always seek medical advice first.
