What Dancers Say About I Can Dance Shrewsbury

5/5 from 32 Google reviews.

I've been attending Sarah's Charleston classes for a few months now, from beginners through to improvers, and I love every minute of it. The classes are fun, energetic and move at a pace that everyone is comfortable with. Sarah is an excellent instructor; full of enthusiasm and encouragement so no-one feels stupid if they go wrong! We have now progressed to showcasing our routines at events around Shrewsbury – it's a great chance to get dressed up and show how our hard work has paid off!

The classes are attended by both men and women of all ages, so I would encourage anyone to come along and — Caroline Kirk

I have wanted to learn Charleston for many years and couldn't believe my luck when I heard about Sarah's classes. Thursday nights are now the highlight of my week. The classes are such fun as well as being a fantastic workout and Sarah is so patient as well as being a really lovely person. We have recently performed in a charity dance show which was great fun and really bonded us as a group, I have gained a lovely new group of friends who share my love of dancing.
My best advice to you if you are thinking of joining a Revel in Dance class is …….. stop thinking and do it! You will learn— Sue Jamieson

We booked Sarah for our daughter's 11th birthday party. It was a huge success! We were struggling to come up with any ideas for a party venue and started to look at a disco party as all the girls love dancing and we could use our local hall.
Sarah brought some street dance wear for them to borrow which added to the excitement! Sarah send a pdf with her logo which I used on the invitations-they looked great.
We were given the CD of the songs we picked and it was taken straight into school so the performance could be shown to the rest of the class on Monday. Think we should do it for the Mum— Marion Jones

Spring 2016 Charleston for beginners is amazing. Full on exercise and fun, a great tonic after work. I cannot dance as I have two left feet but it did not matter, I learnt something every session, benefitted from the great workout and met lovely, friendly people. Don’t be shy give it a try, everyone makes mistakes and no one has the time to worry about how bad you are! Sarah is so kind and helpful showing you how to go on, as are others in the group. Decided I am going back for another set in the beginners as it is good for the soul and the figure, bonus! Highly recommend.— Rosie Beswick

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you start ballroom dancing?

A beginners' class is the usual starting point, teaching posture, the hold and a few basic steps. Confidence and timing then build as you add more dances over the weeks.

What ballroom dance to learn first?

The waltz is a popular first ballroom dance because its slow, even rhythm makes the timing easy to feel. Many people move on to the foxtrot or quickstep afterwards.

How hard is it to learn salsa?

Salsa is quite approachable once you get used to the basic timing, often within a few classes. Regular practice steadily makes the steps feel natural.

Can a non-dancer learn salsa?

Yes, salsa is taught from scratch in beginner classes, so no experience is needed. The steps are introduced gradually for newcomers.

What are 5 basic steps in line dancing?

The grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, shuffle and pivot turn are among the most common. This handful of moves appears across a great many line dances.

What is the easiest line dance to learn for beginners?

Routines with simple repeating patterns are the gentlest introduction. They let you focus on the rhythm before adding turns and quicker footwork.
