I love the roots dance moves and I know of no other place in London that specialises this style of Forró. Chinedu and Jonathan are amazing teachers and hosts, warm, patient and welcoming. The music is great, and the other students are friendly, supportive and dedicated. I love the social afterwards, which gives everyone a chance to embed the evenings moves and have some fun! I find the name badges helpful and the atmosphere inclusive, which is so important for me. I came to Forró as a solo female, not knowing anyone, which is scary and daunting even for us extroverts. It was just what I needed— Martina Randles
Having attended both the Sunday session in Hyde Park and the Tuesday beginner's class at the Lighthouse, I would highly recommend Forró Foundations' classes to anyone looking to either build on their Forró skills, or pick the dance up from scratch. They are truly sessions where all levels are welcome (the intermediate class runs simultaneously and looked super fun too!) and it is a really friendly, welcoming environment. Both Chinedu and Jonathan are excellent teachers, who explain the steps really clearly, demonstrate them a number of times them so you can follow, and then you get a tonne of — Laura Hamilton
SIMPLY FANTASTIC
Whether you are a newbie or a regular to the forró scheme, Forró Foundations classes are an optimal choice to learn the roots style and add an elegant touch to your moves.
The classes have a very good structure, so it makes it easier to progress, and the teachers are always attentive to your questions. The length of the lessons is longer than usual, what gives you a great value for money, plus you can join the free after party to keep on practicing you new steps!
The venue is cosy and in a good location, with very welcoming stuff and happy hour all night!
Overall is a grea— Fátima Botella
Warm, friendly, feel-like home atmosphere where everyone is welcomed and treated as best friends!! It is the place where you will learn how to dance no matter what is your current level!!! Even if I have only 1 hour for dancing per week, I am already the happiest person that entire week. I literally run there every time and can't wait for the next class – it is never enough for me. And I have the best dancing teacher ever – Chinedu! No matter how many times I step on his feet, Chinedu always makes me feel as if I am a dancing queen)) And I know that every student feels the same – because it— Екатерина Прохорова
Salsa's basics come quickly, with timing and partnering taking longer, but note that Forró Foundations specialises in Brazilian forró rather than salsa.
Yes, complete beginners can learn salsa in dedicated classes, though the teaching here is centred on forró rather than salsa.
Yes. Adults can take up ballet at any age, though that would call for a ballet school rather than this forró specialist.
No age is too late for recreational ballet; the technique can be enjoyed for fitness and pleasure throughout life.
The grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and shuffle are typical line-dance steps, separate from the forró taught here.
A simple repeating four-wall dance such as the Electric Slide is an easy first line dance, though this school teaches forró.
