The English National Ballet is one of the oldest and most renowned ballet companies in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1950, the company has been performing for over 70 years and is based in London’s Mulryan Centre for Dance.

History

The English National Ballet was founded in 1950 by the British government with the aim of providing a national ballet company for the UK. The company was the first of its kind in the country and was led by the renowned choreographer and impresario Ninette de Valois.

Since its inception, the company has gone on to become one of the most respected ballet companies in the world, performing in some of the most prestigious venues including the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall.

Repertoire

The English National Ballet’s repertoire consists of a wide range of ballets from both classical and contemporary choreographers. The company has performed some of the most famous ballets including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Giselle.

The company also performs new works and commissions, as well as collaborations with other dance companies and choreographers.
