Dance at your Wedding is a wedding dance service based around the Caledonian Road area of north London. It is aimed squarely at couples preparing for their first dance, including those with no dancing background and only a short run-up to the day. Nic, the instructor, is known for making a potentially nerve-wracking task feel relaxed and even enjoyable. If the thought of the first dance fills you with dread, this is the sort of help that turns it around.
Reviews describe couples who felt apprehensive, sometimes with only hours of lesson time available, yet came away confident and reassured. Nic is praised for putting nervous partners at ease quickly and for matching routines to tricky song choices. The service suits couples who want practical, focused coaching rather than a long course.
Lessons are private and built entirely around your wedding song, with choreography shaped to your ability and the time you have. The teaching breaks a routine into small, learnable pieces so that even a couple of sessions can produce something that looks the part. While this is a wedding dance service rather than a general school, the guidance draws on the same skills you would find in wider dance lessons London and adult dance classes London. Additional sessions are available for couples wanting a more polished result.
Expect a warm, low-pressure first meeting where the focus is on getting you moving and comfortable. Wear something you can move freely in and shoes that glide rather than grip on a smooth floor. Come with your chosen song, or at least a few contenders, in mind.
Sessions are based in the Caledonian Road area of north London, within reach of the local transport network. Check the precise location details when arranging your lessons.
Me and my partner we were both so nervous as neither of us knew how to do couple dance but Nic made it so much easier for us. We only had 2hour session with him. More hours would have been ideal for us but my wedding was like only days away. So for 2hours Nic managed to teach us couple of very good steps and we managed to do our first dance with confidence in our wedding. Me and my husband totally felt great during the practice and in our wedding day. All thanks goes to Nic for making it enjoyable and easy for us. Thank you Nic. I definitely recommend Nic as a great dance teacher 💃 💖 :))— Rose Rose
Nic is an outstanding first wedding dance instructor and I would highly recommend him to anyone. I think the thought of the first dance is quite daunting for a guy, somehow Nic made the learning experience fun and even after just the first lesson I felt a lot more confident. I was surprised how much he could teach us in such a short time. It really didn’t take long before we had learnt an entire dance routine, Nic put this all together to our first song so it couldn't have been easier. It was really money well spent and he is excellent value.— Ben Colleran
We were quite apprehensive about our first dance especially since we had chosen quite a difficult song to dance to. Nic was able to put a routine together that matched the song perfectly. I am not a confident dancer but Nic put myself and my wife at ease straight away and was very patient. We had 5 lessons with Nic which resulted in a fantastic routine which we had great fun doing at the wedding. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nic to help with your first dance!— Colm Sheedy
Nic is a super friendly and capable dance teacher. He's just what you want when learning a dance routine for your big day… he makes the process relaxed and fun, as well as being able to tailor to what you guys really want and who you really are. That was important to us.— Daniel Avery
Salsa's basic step is easy to learn and rests on simple weight transfers you can pick up quickly. Reaching a smooth social standard takes a little regular practice but is well within most people's grasp.
Yes, non-dancers learn salsa regularly, as the fundamentals of timing and partnering are taught from the ground up. No experience is expected.
Adults can certainly take up ballet and build the necessary posture and control over time. This is a wedding dance service, though, so ballet would be sought from a specialist school.
There is no cut-off for learning ballet recreationally. People take it up at all stages of life and enjoy the benefits.
Starting a couple of months ahead gives comfortable time to learn and rehearse without pressure, though shorter routines can be pulled together in far less. It is best to contact the instructor to plan around your date and song.
Most couples prepare a single first dance, though some add a second number or a surprise routine. What you choose is entirely up to you and can be discussed when booking.
