Candoco Dance Company was founded in 1991 by Celeste Dandeker, a former dancer with the Royal Ballet, and Pedro Machado, a former dancer with the London Contemporary Dance Theatre. Their aim was to create a company that would redefine contemporary dance, and provide an opportunity for disabled and non-disabled dancers to work together.

Since then, Candoco has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the UK’s most successful and respected contemporary dance companies. The company has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, and the USA, and has been commissioned to create works by some of the world’s leading choreographers.
