The British Association of American Square Dance Clubs (BAASDC) is a national organisation dedicated to the promotion and preservation of American Square Dancing in the UK. The organisation was founded in 1995 and is based in London.
American Square Dancing is a traditional form of group dancing where 8 people dance in a square formation. The dancers follow the instructions of a caller, who will call out the steps and formations for the dancers to follow. The dances are usually accompanied by traditional American folk music.
The BAASDC is committed to promoting and preserving American Square Dancing in the UK. To this end, the organisation hosts regular events and activities to encourage people to take part in the activity. These include workshops, festivals and competitions. The organisation also has a website and a newsletter, which is available to members.
Membership of the BAASDC is open to anyone interested in American Square Dancing. Membership fees are £25 per year, and members receive discounts on events and activities organised by the BAASDC.
The British Association of American Square Dance Clubs is based at 9 Station Rd, London. For more information, visit their website at http://uksquaredancing.com or email British_Association_of_American_Square_Dance_Clubs@uk-ballroom.co.uk.
