I have been attending this dance school for over 15 years having lessons and the level of teaching is excellent. You can learn to social dance and if you want you can take exams & get medals for your dancing if you want to take it further. They do classes which I attend or you can have private lessons. Sue & James are excellent at teaching all the ballroom & latin dances. Every Monday evening between 8 & 10 is a social dance at Rowheath Pavillion & the music they play is really good, everyone is so friendly in a lovely setting with a great dance floor all for £3.50 a person great value.— Jane Harkin

My wife and I joined Improvers classes when they started after COVID and have found them great for dusting off the dance shoes and learning new ballroom and latin routines. There is a good sense of community here and the social dances are good fun with the added sequence dances, which you can pick up as you go. There are also opportunities to take medal tests if you wish. Recommended if you want to pick up/progress your ballroom and latin in a relaxed, social setting!— Sam Molyneux

Sue and James, with their professional, helpful and friendly approach, make a great team. We've really appreciated the patience and thoroughness that went into the lessons. Each one helped us improve and filled us with enthusiasm – there can't be a higher accolade than that. If you join a class or have a private lesson you won't regret it!— Ed Xword

Sue and James welcome and encourage dancers of all abilities to enjoy learning and developing their dance skills. An excellent place to brush up your skills or learn new ones and the weekly practice session gives the opportunity to reinforce your learning. Friendly people, friendly school.— Terry Yearsley

Can you learn to dance without a partner?

Yes. Many people attend on their own, and classes are run so that you can take part and progress without bringing a partner.

What should I wear to a beginner dance class?

Comfortable clothes you can move in and shoes that let you turn smoothly are ideal; the school can advise on proper dance shoes later on.

How much does a dance class usually cost?

Costs depend on whether you choose group classes or private lessons, so it is best to ask the school directly for current rates.

Which dance is best for beginners?

The waltz is a gentle starting point for its steady rhythm, though the teachers can suggest a first dance to suit you.

What is the best dance to start as an adult?

For adults, a slower ballroom dance such as the waltz eases you into timing and hold before tackling quicker Latin styles.
