Black Lives in Music (BLIM) is an arts organisation based in London, UK, dedicated to celebrating the diverse contributions of Black people in music. Founded in 2020, BLIM is committed to creating an inclusive music scene, where everyone feels welcome and can express themselves through their art.
BLIM works to achieve its aims by providing a platform for Black performers and artists to showcase their work, and by organising events, workshops and seminars that promote understanding and appreciation of Black music. BLIM also works to increase access to music education and resources for Black people, with the aim of increasing diversity and representation in the music industry.
BLIM organises a range of events, from intimate gigs to large-scale festivals. These events are designed to celebrate the creativity and talent of Black musicians, and to provide a safe space for them to express themselves and their art. BLIM also works with other organisations to create opportunities for collaboration and dialogue between Black musicians and other artists.
BLIM also works to increase access to music education and resources for Black people. Through its workshops and seminars, BLIM provides an opportunity for Black musicians to learn about the history of Black music and its influence on popular culture. BLIM also works with educational institutions to create pathways for Black musicians to gain access to music education and resources.
