The Air Training Corps (ATC) is a youth organisation which is part of the Royal Air Force and is based in Retford, UK. It was established in 1941 and is open to young people aged between 12 and 20. It provides an opportunity for members to learn about the RAF and aviation, as well as develop important life skills such as leadership, teamwork and confidence.
The ATC offers a wide range of activities and opportunities for its members. These include flying, gliding, sports, adventure training and camps. Members also have the chance to take part in field trips, competitions and workshops. The ATC also offers a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and the chance to take part in the annual Air Cadet Exchange Programme.
Joining the ATC provides young people with the opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends and have fun. Through taking part in the activities and opportunities on offer, members can develop their self-confidence, leadership and teamwork skills. They also have the chance to gain qualifications such as the BTEC in Aviation Studies and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
