Academy Mews Dance Studios sits down a quiet side street off Pratt Mews in Camden, and it is a rehearsal and hire facility rather than a teaching school. Dancers and groups book its rooms to practise choreography, run fitness sessions or hold castings, and reviewers describe clean, spacious studios that match their photos. The largest space is popular for classes and rehearsals, while smaller solo rooms suit individual practice. Access is via a discreet entrance with a bell and reception up the first flight of stairs.
Because this is a space for hire, there is no in-house timetable of lessons; instead you bring your own practice or the class you are attending is run by a visiting teacher or group. Users note that the studios are well suited to yoga, HIIT and general rehearsal as well as dance. Owners are described as friendly and accommodating.
As a hire venue on the map of dance classes in London, Academy Mews hosts sessions organised by independent instructors rather than offering its own curriculum. This makes it a practical base for anyone running dance lessons London or needing floor space to rehearse. Rooms range from larger studios down to a smaller, more affordable solo room for individual work. Availability is by booking, so arrange your slot in advance.
The entrance can be tricky to spot, so allow a moment to find the small mews sign and ring the bell if the door is shut. Reception is up the first flight of stairs. Confirm your booking, room and access details ahead of arrival.
Pratt Mews lies in Camden, close to Camden Town's markets and transport links, tucked away from the main road along a quiet side street.
Been to a few sessions here with some friends, rented out studios to practice choreography. The studio condition could be better, there was a lot of dust balls all over the floor so I don't think they vacuum the rooms… a note to visitors…Please kindly open the windows to air out the rooms as one time the group before us had the windows shut the entire duration of their session and the room smelt really really bad ! We had to open the windows ourselves, turn the fan on to blow out the air to the window and spray body spray to drown out the odours to make the room bearable to be in. Please — Rachel Lee
Studio looked exactly how it does in the pictures provided. It is clean, spacious and perfect for yoga, rehearsals, a fitness class or even a casting call. I booked the Balcony Studio for my first HIIT fitness class. The owner was so kind and friendly and was willing to cater to what ever I needed. We were able to use the mats that were available which was so helpful as it’d be so expensive to buy and bring your own for a full class. Would really recommend Academy Mews and certainly will be coming back. Just to add it is located in the heart of Camden which is a great location. It’s also reall— Just Shan
A bit hard to find but google maps should lead u right to it. Its a little side street an the building has a small sign saying mews studios. U might have to ring the bell if the door is closed
Reception is up the 1st flight of stairs
I use the solo room since its the cheapest. It has a stereo, windows and a fan (if it doesnt you can ask the staff for it- theyre very friendly)
Big mirrors with decent lighting. Theres also a piano in the room 😂
Staff knocks politely when your time is up
Bathroom is at the top floor— Amiera H
I decided to start teaching my classes regularly at the Academy Mews Studios last year because I loved that the team is made out of artists. They are clever and kind about their rules and the environment they have created for other artists is safe and positive. They really understand their clients’ needs because they share them too. I am really happy to have found a human sized business that operates with integrity and kindness and I would definitely recommend their services!— Melanie De Groot
Salsa is achievable for most learners once the basic timing settles in, which is the trickiest early stage. A few weeks of regular practice usually brings social confidence.
Yes. Salsa classes are aimed at complete beginners, and most people start with no experience. Regular attendance counts for more than natural talent.
It is, through classes designed for adult beginners. Progress can be gradual, but the strength, posture and coordination benefits show early.
No age is too late to enjoy ballet as a student. Adult beginner classes welcome every age and focus on technique and enjoyment rather than a professional path.
Typical building blocks are the grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and shuffle. Line dances combine these repeating moves into short sequences.
Simple routines with short repeating patterns are the easiest starting point. Because the group dances together, you can follow along until it sticks.
