New College, The University of Edinburgh

New College is part of the University of Edinburgh, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1583, the university is home to over 40,000 students and is renowned for its research and teaching excellence.

History

New College was founded in 1843 by the Church of Scotland as a theological college. It was initially housed in the Old College building on the High Street, which is now part of the University of Edinburgh. In the early 20th century, the college moved to its current site on The Mound, where it was renamed New College in 1929.

New College is home to a wide range of courses, including theology, religious studies, philosophy, history and literature. It also offers postgraduate courses in these subjects, as well as a range of research degrees.
