Hip Hop Pop Ltd is a street and hip hop dance school with a loyal following among children and teenagers. Parents describe children who leap out of bed for class and keep attending for years. It is a great match for young people who want to learn hip hop in a fun, creative environment.
Reviews highlight enthusiastic pupils who come home showing off new moves with real joy and confidence, and a course director, Jenny, whose teaching keeps even teenagers coming back. Families praise the creativity of the classes, including the way sessions kept going through periods when in-person dancing was harder. It suits young dancers who want authentic street and hip hop style delivered with energy.
Classes focus on street and hip hop, with young beginners learning grooves and foundational moves before building towards routines and performance. The teaching is pitched to keep children and teenagers engaged, developing both skill and confidence over time. For families exploring dance for their children, the emphasis here is firmly on hip hop rather than styles like ballet or salsa. Trial classes make it easy to see whether the style and atmosphere suit your child before committing.
A trial class is a relaxed way to start, and teachers are used to welcoming newcomers of all ages. Children should wear comfortable, sporty clothing and trainers with good grip. No partner is needed, as hip hop is danced individually.
Access will depend on the specific class location, so it is worth confirming the venue and session times when you get in touch. Staff can point you to the most convenient option.
From the first trial class my daughter has loved it at Hip Hop Pop, we've only been going for about a month but so far so good! She loves coming to class and comes home and shows off her moves with great joy and confidence.
I was worried that at 12 it was a bit late to be starting a new dance class, as lots of children do dance from a very young age, and I was worried she wouldn't know what to do and feel awkward as she is quite shy and unsure of herself with dancing.
You have made her feel really welcome, there is never any pressure and the emphasis is on fun and enjoying yourself, which is— Anne Wright
HipHopPop is an outstanding company to be apart of. Would be lost without their classes! It’s what I look forward to each week to “dance it out”. The creativity that has gone into keeping us all going through lockdown and tier restrictions and the virtual classes is just incredible. So much thought and love has gone into making sure members and new comers alike can still enjoy themselves and keep smiling during more difficult times. It’s all the little things that they do which makes HHP more than just a dance school…it’s an extended family. HHP is a community that once you’re apart of— Toni Beard
My son has been at hip hop pop since the age of 8, he’s now 16. Any dance school that can keep a teenager off his x-box and regularly attending for this long is testament to the incredible Standard of teaching from course director Jenny and the fact it really is true street/hip hop dance and not a sub standard class that thinks it’s “street”. Whether you are 8 or 58 there’s a class here for you and you will be encouraged whatever your level of dance experience-and I can say that as a mum who has suitably embarrassed her child by joining the brilliant adult classes! Totally recommend. 👍— Claire Jones
My daughter who started hip hop pop at the age of 10 absolutely loves going and her confidence has gone up so much. She was nervous about starting but her tutor Alisha made her feel at ease and really explains the moves in terms that she understands. She always excited to do her lessons weather in the studio or online (due to covid). Hip hop pop really care for there students no matter what age they are and if you have any concerns as a parent Jen and vic are always happy to listen and help any way they can.— Michelle Baker
Yes, hip hop and street dance are danced solo, so no partner is required. Many other styles also welcome individual learners or rotate partners.
For hip hop, comfortable sportswear and trainers with good grip work best. Bring water and arrive a little early to settle in.
Prices depend on the class length and whether you pay per session or per term. For current fees it is best to contact the school directly.
For children drawn to energetic, current styles, hip hop is an excellent starting point. The best choice ultimately comes down to what appeals most.
Adults often begin with a sociable style they enjoy, whether street, salsa or ballroom. Picking something fun makes it far easier to keep going.
Gentle dancing can be enjoyable and active, but anyone with a heart condition should check with their doctor first. Personal medical advice should always guide the decision.
