What Dancers Say About Off The Rails

5/5 from 31 Google reviews.

It is my favourite Dance Studio to go to. Missie and Gee who look after the studio are some of the most wonderful and friendliest ladies I have ever met. The community they have created is so welcoming and inclusive. I love how the classes are easy to follow wether you are new to dancing, dancing as a hobbie or professional. They always make sure that everyone is taken into account and often will listen to some of the songs you want to do and try to accommodate. I personally love the commercial, contemporary with Gee and musical theatre classes. I've done a little hip hop which I am not the be— Ingrid Civet

I've been attending classes at OTR since 2019 – what has kept me coming back is the consistent "feel good" atmosphere, a full timetable of evening classes most days of the week, longer workshops on occasion, a thriving dance community, and excellent value for money! All the teachers are super friendly and supportive, you can't help but smile as you dance! Since the pandemic, they no longer allow walk-ins (like many establishments) so you do need to create an account and book/pay online. The studio recently underwent a huge refurb but looking fab so far! Keep up the good work everyone!— Mae

Zoom classes with Off The Rails have been fantastic during lockdown. Missie has so much energy and keeps things fun – super encouraging! Also really helpful when I mess up booking and speedy at replying to messages. I love Jeff's SwingTrain class on Monday evenings and totally recommend that. It's not only about exercise and fun but also about community and making new friends. I went to the studio in person a couple of times in early 2020 and it's in a great location. Sign up for the emails – they make me smile 🙂— Jan Hodson

Love these guys so much, they have kept me sane all through lockdown with their energy, enthusiasm & love. They are forever reinventing the wheel to coincide with covid rules. Classes on zoom, YouTube, IGTV live, socially distance car park classes come rain or snow. Always something to suit your mood ( relaxed or caffeine fuelled hyper) always creative & varied, always professional even when dressed as an avocado or a turkey. Roll on May 17th & a step closer to normality Thank you Missie & Gee xx— Michelle Norman

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is it to learn salsa?

The basic salsa step is quick to pick up, with turns and styling coming later. Regular classes make it feel natural surprisingly fast.

Can a non-dancer learn salsa?

Yes, complete beginners take up salsa all the time, and starter sessions assume no experience. The community here makes that especially easy.

Is it possible to learn ballet as an adult?

Adults can certainly begin ballet, focusing on posture and control at a comfortable pace. No childhood background is required.

What age is too late to start ballet?

Recreational ballet has no upper age limit, as classes adapt to suit older beginners. The emphasis is on enjoyment and gradual progress.

What are 5 basic steps in line dancing?

Typical moves include the grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and coaster step. Once learned, they carry across many dances.

What is the easiest line dance to learn for beginners?

A short, repeating four-wall dance is usually the gentlest introduction. An instructor can match one to music you enjoy.
