We have been taught to dance by Amy and her team for many years. They are friendly, encouraging, patient, have a wealth of experience in different dances and make it fun so you don't feel silly when you just cannot do that new move. As someone with 2 left feet, my wife and I now have great selection of dances to do on cruises and parties. They also create a great social calender with events and practice nights. We have been with the school for over 10 years and are still having great fun.— jeremy barton
Wonderful classes, welcoming teachers and lots of fun!
I have been dancing here for almost a year now and I could not recommend Berkshire Ballroom, Amy and all the teachers there highly enough!
Anyone looking for social classes, first dance lessons, events and more…Berkshire Ballroom is the place to go!— Helen Foskett
My partner and I had a last-minute first dance lesson for our wedding with Amy and it was brilliant! Amy showed us a routine that would make us feel more comfortable on the dance floor and it really helped. Not only that but we also really enjoyed the lesson in itself, I highly recommend it!— Rachel W
Well done to BB, working through the lockdown. Thanks to the impressive hardwork and cheerful personality of Amy, we didn't have to hang up our dancing shoes once this summer, in fact some weeks I think we danced more than normal!!— Helen Chuter
Begin with a beginner class where the teacher introduces the basic steps of one or two dances before linking them into routines. You do not need a partner or any experience to start, and this school welcomes newcomers.
A gentle, rhythmic dance such as the waltz or a social foxtrot is a common first choice because the timing is easy to feel. Your teacher can suggest the best starting dance for you.
The basic salsa step comes quickly, while the timing and turns firm up with practice. Regular classes make it feel natural before long.
Yes, salsa is very learnable from scratch and beginner classes expect no background. Most people arrive with no dance experience at all.
Widely used steps include the grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and shuffle. They recur across many dances, so learning them pays off repeatedly.
Short, repetitive routines with just a few steps are the kindest introduction. Ask the teacher which beginner dance to try first.
