Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to learn ballet as an adult?

Yes, ballet can absolutely be taken up as an adult, and many people find it excellent for posture, strength and poise. The best approach is a class pitched at adult beginners so the pace and expectations suit you.

What age is too late to start ballet?

It is never too late to begin. Children and adults alike take up ballet at all stages of life, and classes can be adapted to suit the age and ability of the dancer.

What are 5 basic steps in line dancing?

Typical beginner line dance moves include the grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, coaster step and simple turns. This school specialises in ballet, but these steps are the foundation of most line dances taught elsewhere.

What is the easiest line dance to learn for beginners?

A short dance with a repeating sequence and minimal turns is the gentlest place to start. For structured ballet training, however, this school builds skills progressively through its own graded approach.

Can you learn to dance without a partner?

Yes. Ballet is danced individually within a class, so no partner is needed, and pupils develop their technique through solo work and group exercises.

What should I wear to a beginner dance class?

For ballet, soft and comfortable clothing that lets the body move freely is best to begin with, along with appropriate ballet shoes. The school can advise on shoes and any uniform once your child is settled in.
