Aurora dance academy is such an amazing dance school with brilliant teachers ! Imy and Jamie-Lou have taught me for years and I’ve not only progressed so much as a dancer with their ongoing support but have learnt so many things that I wouldn’t have learnt anywhere else ! My confidence, creativeness and determination has increased a lot, not to mention how quickly everyone in my class became good friends. Also the show was so much fun and nothing compares to the feeling of performing , especially with a school that I’m so proud of . With Jo always ready to answer any questions and give support— Rebecca Stretch
Aurora Dance Academy is an amazing dance school… my daughter has been dancing since she was 3 (now 15) and use to dance with Imy. The music mill closed down so Imy set up her own dance school and she is an amazing dance principle, along with her mum Jo who does a lot of the behind the scenes. Her choreography is insane and the students love her and she loves them. She really looks after their mental health too, she really is a complete package— Natalie Williamson
The best timetable and the most fun and friendly people you'll ever find. Wonderful teachers, fabulous new dance school. Can't recommend enough for tiny tots right up to adult.— Kate Gaskin
My daughter loves her dance classes here… She does far too many to mention but such good value for money too 🥰🤩— Louise Page
You begin with a beginners class covering the basic hold, posture and timing before any figures follow. Most newcomers start with one or two simpler dances and build up from there.
The waltz is a popular first dance because its slow, even count leaves time to focus on balance. The social foxtrot is another gentle way to get used to moving with a partner.
Line dances use recurring moves such as the grapevine, the kick-ball-change, the coaster step, the shuffle and the pivot turn. Once these feel familiar, most routines are arrangements of them.
A short dance with lots of repetition and a single wall is the gentlest introduction. The steady count lets you settle into the rhythm before the sequence grows.
Yes. Line dancing and many solo styles are danced alone, and in partner classes teachers usually rotate people so you always have someone to work with.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in and shoes that turn smoothly on the floor. Avoid heavy grip trainers and bring water for the breaks.
