Frequently Asked Questions

How do you start ballroom dancing?

You begin with a beginners class where the basic hold, posture and timing come first, before any figures are added. Most newcomers start with one or two simpler dances and build from there.

What ballroom dance to learn first?

The waltz is a common first choice because its slow, even count gives you time to focus on balance. The social foxtrot is another gentle option for getting used to moving with a partner.

How hard is it to learn salsa?

Salsa is very approachable early on once you have the basic step and timing. Progress comes with regular practice rather than any special aptitude, so most beginners pick it up steadily.

Can a non-dancer learn salsa?

Yes. Beginners classes assume no experience and start with the fundamentals, so people who have never danced before learn alongside everyone else.

What are 5 basic steps in line dancing?

Line dances draw on recurring moves such as the grapevine, the kick-ball-change, the coaster step, the shuffle and the pivot turn. Once these are familiar, most routines are combinations of them.

What is the easiest line dance to learn for beginners?

A short dance with plenty of repetition and a single wall is the gentlest introduction. The steady count lets you settle into the rhythm before the sequence develops.
