I have always wanted to dance but felt too old and inflexible to start until I joined AMC
Everyone feels like a dancer. Each class is very inclusive of all abilities and ages. The sessions overflow with joy, laughter , happiness and fun. I feel alive and young.
Adele , Sarah,Annabelle , Ella, Jodie and their team make everyone feel so welcome. They work really hard to bring a range of exciting routines to a variety of songs. They look after everyone.
At the end of each group of sessions we can dress up if we want to and perform together
The team posts videos to assist us with dance moves. I — Chrissy York
Adult Classes at AMC:
I want to say a million things but mostly a thousand thank yous – I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have found the dance school. There’s such a beaut sense of community that is so warm and encouraging.
Our adult dances are ace – I only do tap (for now!) but I can tell that all of them are stretching and fun to learn (and so rewarding to feel like you’ve nailed it!!). The dances always have a sense of humour but we’re empowered to perform with dignity – it never feels like we’re a joke, which it would be a super easy trap to fall into. Where to even begin! I moved to Loughborough to study and at AMC I certainly found my home away from home ❤️. I had done a very limited amount of dance in my past. In the last few years I’ve learnt commercial, jazz, ballet, ballet en pointe and tap. I’ve danced in shows, performed for the local community and at Birmingham hippodrome just to name some of it. Never did I think at this point in life would I get the chance to learn all these styles to such a high level. The classes are endless fun whilst training immaculate technique and providing incredible choreography. I couldn’t imagine life w— Soraya Williams
AMC have become such a big part of my life in such a small span of time. The classes have made me realise even when you are no longer flexible it’s still worth it. The tap is so upbeat and challenging that it always feels fresh and new. Every routine shares a slightly different style with new challenges and new moves. Jazz makes you feel alive and makes you realise having the style is one thing but having fun is what makes you a good dancer. Ballet is the perfect combo between a lyrical and contemporary infusion and the classical ballet style. It teaches you the poise of a dancer without makin— Daniella Nixon
Join a beginners class or take a short run of lessons that introduce one dance at a time. You can come without a partner and without experience.
The waltz is a common starting dance because its rhythm is easy to feel. From there the faster dances become simpler to add.
The basic salsa step is quick to grasp, often within a single lesson. Building speed and styling takes practice, but beginners make progress fast.
Yes. Beginner salsa classes are designed for people with no experience, teaching the timing and steps from the ground up.
Typical moves include the grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and shuffle. Routines are assembled from these repeated in sequence.
A short four-wall dance with a simple repeating pattern is the easiest first choice. Teachers pick one that lets you succeed early on.
