I have 4 daughters who have all attended Marcia’s my eldest has been going for 13 years, the staff & other students have become her family Marcia, Katie & Bow have always been supportive & encouraging she has never not wanted to go, because of their encouragement & passion she now wishes to pursue a career in performing. My 2 middle daughters loved going to Marcia’s but we’re just not that interested in dance, my youngest daughter has the dancing bug & asks every day if it’s dancing tonight! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Marcia’s & feel happy & confident in leaving my girls in their expert — Piper Tobin-storer
Not only is Marcia Jones school of dance a terrific dance school with an incredible principal and experienced teachers but it is also a fabulous support system for many children and a place to build confidence, enjoy yourself and mature as a person.
I started at this school in 1995 and I still visit it regularly. Many children leave a dance school and move on with their next steps and adult lives however the dance school holds a special place in many hearts and most students return time after time just to see the teachers, feel the love and get a hug from an incredible woman. I took a very shy 4 years old girl to Marcia Jones School of Dance and she cried her eyes out and didn't want to go, but with the patience of the teachers and assistants she reluctantly started to join in that was 11 years ago. Now dance is her life, it has given her a discipline in life that I do not believe she would have achieved had she not taken dance classes. She still continues to dance at Marcia Jones and she always comes out with a smile on her face and it's one of her happy places. Thank you Marcia Jones School of Dance for being patient with that shy 4 years old girl so many yea— Shelly Han
I’ve been coming to Marcia’s since I was 5, I am now 17 and still have the love for dance I had when I first joined, Marcia Bow and Katie are all so welcoming and caring towards the children. I can also say I have made a lot of friends who will definitely be my friends for life, having been together for over 10 years it truly feels like we have our own family. I always knew that I wanted to perform and Marcia has given me the strength and confidence to be able to do that, I’m currently studying performing arts at college after having left school, and am planning to extend my studies at a dance— Anais Grace
The basic salsa step is quick to pick up, and most beginners are dancing it within a lesson or two. Timing and turns take more practice, but the early stages are friendly for almost anyone.
Yes. Salsa beginner classes assume no background at all, and the repeating basic pattern soon becomes second nature. Confidence usually builds quicker than newcomers expect.
Yes, many adults start ballet later in life and enjoy it. Adult classes focus on strength, flexibility and grace at a comfortable pace rather than professional standards.
There is no age that is too late for recreational ballet. People begin in their forties and beyond, adjusting the work to their own body and using it to improve poise and mobility.
Typical moves include the grapevine, the kick-ball-change, the pivot turn, the shuffle and the coaster step. Most beginner dances string a few of these together and repeat them.
Simple four-wall dances built from grapevines and taps are usually the easiest to learn. Teachers tend to choose routines made of repeating eight-count sections so the sequence is easy to hold.
