What Dancers Say About Test Valley School of Dance

5/5 from 5 Google reviews.

Have been taking my 4 year old daughter for almost a year. Went to see her first show last week with family and was amazing to see the quality as they progress with age is a really high standard. Miss Hannah is lovely and genuinely nurtures the girls and goes above and beyond with social integration, most recently a end of term party complete with, barn dancing and a chocolate fountain! This is my first dance mum experience and I really hope she wants to keep going as I think she will make friends for life.— Jade Richardson

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you learn to dance without a partner?

Yes. Styles such as ballet and line dancing need no partner at all, and many partner classes rotate dancers so you can attend on your own.

What should I wear to a beginner dance class?

Comfortable clothing you can move freely in is ideal, along with footwear suited to the style. For ballet, soft shoes are usual, so it is worth checking with the school.

How much does a dance class usually cost?

Prices vary with the class length, style and whether sessions are group or private, so it is best to ask the school directly. Many offer a taster or introductory session for a first visit.

Which dance is best for beginners?

That depends on what appeals to you; ballet suits those who enjoy technique and poise, while livelier styles suit those who prefer rhythm. Trying a class is the best way to decide.

What is the best dance to start as an adult?

Many adults enjoy starting with a style that matches their interests, whether that is ballet for posture or a social dance for its sociable feel. The best choice is usually whichever one you look forward to most.

Is dancing good for heart failure?

Gentle dancing can be a pleasant form of light exercise, but anyone with heart failure or another condition should speak to their GP before starting. A doctor can advise on a level of activity that is safe for them.
