What Dancers Say About dh dance academy

5/5 from 9 Google reviews.

My son has attended DH Dance lessons for around 4 years and my daughter for almost two years. They both love it so much and say it is the best club they go to. Particularly for my son, I have seen his confidence grow so much since joining. He has performed in two whole school shows and in front of a huge crowd at a local event in Hertford – which we would never have thought he would do. He absolutely loves it and the smile on his face during performances says it all. He talks about it all the time! Both of my children have also made great friends at dance and they look forward to seeing them e— Emma Sheffield

What an absolute gem of a dance school in Hertford. Hayley, Liv and the older girls that help out every Saturday are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. My daughter loves it and I can't wait to send my youngest. There is a real sense of care and love – for the students, for each other, and generally for the environment (they encourage uniforms to be handed down, and support those that cannot afford them). The shows are free and production costs kept to a minimum (no expensive fancy costumes and make up yet!). I cannot recommend this academy enough – fun, unpretentious, committed to the kids and surprisin— Jess Chan

I cannot recommend DH dance enough. My daughter joined a few years ago now and continues to want to do more and more classes. Hayley and Hollie have such an amazing work ethic and you can see that they want the children to learn but also enjoy their lessons and their time with them. Which she absolutely does! My daughters passion for dance has grown year on year, and as a result of this, so has her confidence. I cannot thank the DH ladies enough for giving her this opportunity. If you’re looking for dance classes for your children then I genuinely don’t think you’ll find better out there!— Lauren Sandwell

My daughters started at DH Dance Academy with Street Dance and now also do ballet, acrobatics, contemporary & Jazz. They absolutely love dance and have flourished due to Hollie & Hayley’s excellent tuition. DH Dance don’t just run dance classes, they provide opportunities to take part in shows, run holiday camps, arrange workshops with professionals and much more. Hayley & Hollie are always coming up with new ideas which makes the lessons fresh and interesting for the students. My daughters have been dancing at DH for nearly 6 years and I highly recommend them.— clare burgess

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you start ballroom dancing?

Beginners usually start in a group class or a private lesson, learning hold, posture and a few basic steps. Comfortable shoes with a smooth sole are all you need to begin.

What ballroom dance to learn first?

The waltz is a popular first dance thanks to its clear, steady rhythm. A gentle social foxtrot is another common introduction for social floors.

How hard is it to learn salsa?

The basic step is quick to pick up, so early progress feels rewarding. Timing, turns and connection develop with practice over time.

Can a non-dancer learn salsa?

Yes. Salsa classes for beginners assume no experience and build the steps up slowly so everyone can join in.

Is it possible to learn ballet as an adult?

Yes. Adult ballet classes start with the basics and let you progress at a pace that suits you, whether for fitness or technique.

What age is too late to start ballet?

No age is too late to begin. Adults take up ballet throughout life for its posture, strength and gentle conditioning.
