Carole is a fantastic dance instructor! My wife and I attend her regular Monday night dance class in addition to occasional private lessons. She has a wealth of knowledge, and her teaching manner is unfailingly friendly, patient and easy to understand. She is just as good with absolute beginners as she is with those who are more advanced, and for someone with Carole's experience and teaching ability, these classes are excellent value for money.

The hall at All Saints school is big, which for Ballroom especially, is brilliant and the other couples are all so friendly and welcoming.— Jude Sudbury

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you start ballroom dancing?

Most people start by joining a beginners' class or booking an introductory lesson, where you learn posture, hold and a few basic steps. From there you build up one dance at a time.

What ballroom dance to learn first?

Beginners often start with a dance that has a steady, walkable rhythm, as it makes the basics of timing and movement easier to grasp. Your teacher can recommend a good first dance for you.

Can you learn to dance without a partner?

Yes. Although ballroom and Latin are partner dances, classes frequently rotate partners or accommodate solo learners, so you can join on your own.

What should I wear to a beginner dance class?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement and shoes with smooth soles that pivot easily. Avoid heavy, grippy trainers that catch on the floor.

How much does a dance class usually cost?

Prices differ between group classes and private lessons and depend on the teacher. Ask directly for current rates before booking.

Which dance is best for beginners?

A ballroom or Latin dance with a clear, repeating rhythm is a common first choice. The best option depends on the music and style you most enjoy.
