Dance Stars

Dance Stars UK is a Blyth dance school that has built a loyal following among families along the Northumberland coast. Classes run for a broad spread of ages, from tiny three and four year olds finding their feet to a seated session designed for more mature dancers. Parents often single out the way children grow in confidence over the terms they attend. With a five-star reputation across its reviews, the school has become a fixture for many local households.

About Dance Stars

The school covers a range of dance styles and ability levels, with groups arranged so that beginners are not thrown in at the deep end. Alongside weekly lessons, pupils can work towards dance exams and take part in the annual shows that punctuate the year. Several families describe the atmosphere as close-knit and encouraging.

Classes & Dance Styles

Sessions are grouped by age, starting with the very youngest children and continuing through to teenagers and adults. There is a seated class aimed at older participants who prefer a gentler pace while still enjoying movement and music. Newcomers can begin as complete novices and build up skills week by week, and those who want a goal can prepare for graded exams. The annual shows give pupils something to rehearse towards through the year.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

If you are trying dance for the first time, comfortable clothing you can move freely in and soft shoes are a sensible start. It is worth arriving a few minutes early so you can settle in and meet the teacher before the class begins. Ask about the right group for your age or your child's age when you get in touch.

Location & Contact

Blyth sits on the Northumberland coast north of Newcastle, and the school is easy to reach for families across the surrounding towns. The area has a strong tradition of community dance and performance.

Super friendly affordable dance school, various age groups from tiny 3/4 year olds to a new seated dance class for the more mature dancers.
My daughter was a novice when she joined at 9 years old and has learnt many skills to improve her confidence through dance. We have made many friends in the lovely family feeling classes.
From learning basic steps to doing her own choreography to allow her to appear in the yearly dance show with beautiful costumes, exams and exciting competitions.
We would certainly recommend Dance Stars to anyone who’s thinking of joining a local dance school with a hard— Yt

My youngest son has been attending Dance Stars for several years now, and he absolutely loves it (and adores his dance, teacher, Kimberlie). He's taken part in two of their annual shows and started doing dance exams – it's really helped build his confidence!

More recently, an adult dance class has also been added, and I really look forward to going every week and learning a new routine each session. Fun atmosphere and you really get a workout while improving your stamina, posture, and energy levels, as well as your confidence.

Cannot recommend Dance Stars highly enough for all age groups, fr— Kell Smurthwaite

Dance stars has changed my sons life! He joined in 2018 as an emotional, shy, under-confident boy who doubted himself, but he has learnt how to use his emotions to express himself through dance and is now a mature, confident person. I honestly believe without dance stars he would still be the super shy person he was back then. It has given him the opportunity to make good friends, and something to focus on. I can’t thank Kimberlie and the dance stars enough for making him feel so welcome and for helping to bring him out of his shell. If I could give it 10 stars then I would!— Kelly Igbinidion

An amazing dance school that starts with a very talented and supportive teacher, always encouraging and nurturing the pupils, filling them with confidence, smiles and happiness. My daughters have grown in confidence as dancers and as young women with the support of this school, they have made the best of friends for life and are having so much fun. The pupils are fantstic, kind, caring and respectful with a great attitude to their lessons and the parents are hugely helpful and supportive, more of a

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you learn to dance without a partner?

Yes. A great deal of dance can be learnt solo, and many group classes are designed so you do not need to bring anyone with you. Steps, timing and coordination are all things you can develop on your own before ever pairing up.

What should I wear to a beginner dance class?

Comfortable clothes you can move and stretch in are ideal, along with soft, flexible shoes. Avoid anything too stiff or restrictive, and bring water to stay hydrated.

How much does a dance class usually cost?

Prices vary by school, class length and whether you pay per session or per term, so it is best to ask the school directly. Many places offer a first taster before you commit.

Which dance is best for beginners?

That depends on what appeals to you, but styles with clear, repeatable steps tend to suit newcomers well. A friendly beginner group will introduce the basics at a manageable pace whatever the style.

What is the best dance to start as an adult?

Adults often enjoy starting with something sociable and forgiving of mistakes, where the emphasis is on rhythm and enjoyment. The right choice is the one you will look forward to each week.

Is dancing good for heart failure?

Gentle, regular movement can be beneficial for many people, but anyone with a heart condition should speak to their GP before starting. A doctor can advise on a safe level of activity for your circumstances.
