What Dancers Say About Take The Floor Dance School

5/5 from 8 Google reviews.

I would highly recommend Kerry as a dance teacher. We were very nervous about our first dance for our wedding and went to Kerry hoping for some instruction. She was absolutely brilliant. Friendly and welcoming she really put both me and wife at ease, and had us doing moves we never dreamed we would be able to do after just 2 lessons. Our first dance at the wedding was fantastic, really setting the energy for the rest of the evening, with many guests absolutely amazed by what we had just done.

On a personal note, I am a big, relatively uncoordinated man who never thought he would take a dance — Michael Harris

We have weekly private lessons with Kerry and we so look forward to our sessions. She is so enthusiastic and encouraging – and also has the most amazing patience when we try to learn a new dance! Whatever reason you want to be able to get up and dance whether it be for a one off (eg wedding), to get started never having danced before, or improve your existing ability. Kerry will get you dancing and able to whizz around the floor with confidence. And don't forget to ask her about her amazing childrens parties which she also does.— Lisa Wenmouth

We had so much fun learning and rehearsing our first dance with Kerry in May this year. We were nervous as neither of us have ever danced before but Kerry is so kind and teaches in such a patient and friendly way! Kerry also has a real talent for choreography and identifying potential in the dancers; she encouraged us to try different styles and moves that we didn't think we'd be able to do and we absolutely smashed it on our wedding day and our guests were blown away! Thanks so much, Kerry!— Lucy Sanderson

I’d highly recommend Kerry to teach you your first wedding dance. She created a fun routine for us to the song we chose. She was really clear in her instructions, and made us feel confident even when we weren’t confident in our own abilities! The session with her was really fun, and the dance went really well on the big day. She also really helpfully recorded us and narrated the moves so we could practice at home. Thank you, Kerry!— Emily Bailey

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you start ballroom dancing?

The best way to start is with a beginner class or a private lesson where you learn posture, hold and a simple step in one dance. From there you gradually add dances and refine your timing and connection with a partner.

What ballroom dance to learn first?

Many people begin with the waltz because its slow, flowing rise-and-fall makes the timing easy to feel. The social foxtrot and quickstep are common early choices too, and a teacher can suggest the best fit for you.

Is it possible to learn ballet as an adult?

Yes, adults can take up ballet and steadily improve their strength, control and posture. Classes for adult beginners are paced accordingly.

What age is too late to start ballet?

For enjoyment and fitness there is no age that is too late to begin ballet. Only a professional career depends on an early start.

What are 5 basic steps in line dancing?

The grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and shuffle are five staples. Most routines are built by combining these familiar moves.

What is the easiest line dance to learn for beginners?

Dances that repeat simple grapevines and touches are the gentlest starting point. To find out which beginner routines are on offer here, contact the school directly.
