Tiny Toes Ballet runs pre-school and toddler ballet classes across the Newport and Cwmbran area, designed for very young children taking their first steps into dance. Sessions are built around imaginative, story-led movement rather than formal technique. It is a lovely introduction for little ones, with parents often joining in the fun.
Families describe it glowingly, with parents saying their children adore the teachers and look forward to it every single week. The attention to detail and well-planned lessons come up repeatedly, and the classes clearly suit babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers whose parents want a warm, engaging early activity.
Classes use music, stories and props to introduce simple ballet ideas like pointing toes, gentle balancing and moving in time, all pitched at tiny attention spans. Different age groups are catered for, from babies through to older pre-schoolers, with the content growing as children develop. The emphasis stays firmly on enjoyment, coordination and confidence rather than exams.
A first class is relaxed and playful, and it is normal for a parent or carer to stay close by, especially with the youngest ones. Dress your child in something comfortable they can move in, and expect plenty of smiles and a bit of happy chaos.
Sessions run at venues across the Newport and Cwmbran area, so there is usually a location within reach for local families. It is worth confirming which venue and time suits you before your first visit.
I cannot recommend Tiny Toes Ballet highly enough. We have done quite a few toddler classes and this is by far my daughter's favourite (and, to be honest, I enjoy going with her too!). Miss Alys and Miss Meg are like rock stars in my daughter's eyes! She absolutely adores them and gets so excited when she sees them. They are so enthusiastic, friendly and energetic with the children. What I love most is that it is helping to develop the children not only physically but intellectually as well. My daughter loves the story telling, the singing, the counting, the props and the dancing. She also lov— Amy Langdon
We have been dancing with Tiny Toes Ballet since my eldest little girl was 2, my youngest started at 18 months. Both girls absolutely love it and look forward to it every week. We have danced with a few different teachers at different venues and all have been excellent. The girls are loving Miss Alice’s classes at the moment.
As a parent it’s a well priced class, the right length of time with some variation in classes each week to keep it interesting. Miss Lauren and her team have been great through covid, keeping parents up to date and getting the dancers back into class as soon as they were — Lizzie James
I have been taking my daughter to Tiny toes since she was 4.5 months old and we absolutely love it. The attention to detail is wonderful, the teachers are great and ensure each child gets individual attention during the lesson…the lesson plans are so well thought out and keep the children engaged from start to finish…..my daughter is 3 years old now and is so excited when we wake up and I tell her its ballet day. Despite all the upheaval in this past year with Covid 19 restrictions Lauren and her team have ensured the transition back to class has been safe and smooth and it's like we have — Joanne Evans
My daughter has been going to Tiny toes in Cwmbran for over a year now. We started with a taster session (which is just the best idea ever) as she was only 3 I was apprehensive to pay for a full term if she did not enjoy it. She absolutely loves it and each term is a new fun theme such as superheroes, mythical creatures and the nutcracker. This is not your typical stand at the barre for 40 mins. These classes are engaging and energetic, she loves it. Tiny toes were absolutely outstanding when it came to lockdown offering online sessions at really affordable prices so the fun could continue at— Natalie Wilson
Yes, these classes are entirely solo and aimed at young children, so no partner is involved. Little ones dance independently while the teacher guides the group.
For toddlers, comfortable clothing they can move freely in is perfect, and many families choose simple ballet-style outfits. There is no need for anything special to start.
Fees for children's classes vary and are often booked in blocks or terms, so it is best to ask directly for current prices. A first taster session is a good way to see if your child enjoys it.
For very young children, a gentle, playful introduction like pre-school ballet is ideal because it builds coordination through fun. It lays a nice foundation for any style they might try later.
These particular classes are designed for young children rather than adults, so grown-ups looking to dance would be better served by an adult beginners' class elsewhere. The principle is the same: choose something you enjoy.
Gentle activity generally supports health, but this is a question for adults with a diagnosis to raise with their doctor. These sessions are aimed at healthy young children.
