Dundee Dance Factory is a long-running dance school based in Broughty Ferry on the eastern side of Dundee. It caters strongly for children and teenagers growing up through the styles, and welcomes returners keen to pick dance back up. Annual shows are a highlight of its calendar. Hard work and genuine fun sit side by side in its classes.
Former and current dancers speak of a supportive, family-like atmosphere where friendships last for years and the yearly show is eagerly anticipated. Several returned as teenagers and felt immediately looked after while learning a great deal. The overall feel is encouraging, hard-working and full of warmth.
The school offers dance classes in Dundee across an array of styles, taking dancers from tiny beginners through to accomplished performers who work towards the annual production. Younger pupils build technique and stagecraft over the years, while adult dance classes in Dundee give grown-ups a route in or back. Newcomers, whether children or returning adults, can expect a warm welcome and a class matched to their experience. Comfortable clothing you can stretch and move in is ideal, along with appropriate soft shoes and a water bottle. The friendly group tends to make first nerves disappear fast.

I returned to dancing as a teenager and felt so supported and learnt so much in the time I have danced with Dundee Dance Factory. We work hard in classes to perform annual shows in an array of dance styles. I look forward to going to class and have made multiple new friends through our shared enjoyment of dancing.
I would suggest to anyone who wants to dance and perform to go along to Dundee Dance Factory’s classes.— Lucy Allison
I danced at Dundee Dance Factory from the age of 3-17. Not only did I learn how to dance but also made happy memories and lifelong friends. I looked forward to class each week as we always worked hard but also had fun. The annual show was definitely the highlight of my year. I would highly recommend Dundee Dance Factory to anyone, of any age, looking to get into Dancing.— Emily Arthur

Join a beginners' group where the basic hold, timing and first steps are taught slowly and clearly. You need neither a partner nor any experience, and the school can tell you which class suits a newcomer.
The waltz is a common starting point thanks to its steady, forgiving rhythm, with the foxtrot another sociable option. A teacher will steer you towards whatever fits the group.
Yes, adults regularly begin ballet and enjoy steady progress at their own pace. Ask the school whether adult ballet is currently offered so you can find the right level.
There is no cut-off; ballet can be adapted for any age and stage. Choose a class designed for adult beginners rather than one for seasoned dancers.
Frequently used moves include the grapevine, step-touch, kick-ball-change, pivot turn and coaster step. Learn these and much of the line-dancing repertoire opens up.
A short, repetitive dance built on walking steps and a grapevine is the gentlest introduction. The teacher can suggest a beginner-friendly routine to try.
