Ballroom Dance Academy of London teaches ballroom and smooth dancing, led by the partnership of Giuseppe and Ksenia. The academy caters for a range of dancers, from those learning for pleasure to people pursuing competitive pro-am work. Lessons are shaped around what each dancer wants to achieve. It suits anyone who values focused, individual attention and steady development.
Giuseppe is described as dedicated and professional yet friendly, taking time to talk through your goals before helping you reach them. Together with Ksenia, the pair are praised as inspiring both as dancers and as teachers, with a strong emphasis on enjoying the process at your own pace. It is a good fit for people who want to progress thoughtfully rather than be rushed.
Tuition spans all styles, with a particular strength in ballroom and smooth dancing. Lessons range from foundations for newcomers through to more advanced work for those dancing competitively. The approach is built around individual goals, whether you want to dance socially or refine technique for the floor. Sessions typically focus on posture, partnering and the detail that turns steps into confident dancing.
A first lesson usually begins with a conversation about what you would like to achieve, so the teaching can be tailored to you. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and smooth-soled shoes suited to a dance floor. Come ready to work at your own pace, with no experience assumed.
The academy operates in the London area, making it accessible to dancers travelling from across the city. It is best to check directly for the location of specific lessons.
Giuseppe is a dedicated teacher, determined to help you achieve your best potential as a dancer. He is friendly but professional, will talk through what you want to achieve and then help you get there. He dances all styles but his forte is in Ballroom and Smooth; currently I am enjoying learning a Tango Show including Argentine, Smooth and Ballroom Tango techniques. Whatever your level he can help you to dance, as he is a very strong leader and understands what you need to learn in the way that suits you best. I always enjoy my lessons with him. I chose the Ballroom Dance Academy because of its values, to be a safe place to express yourself through dance, to better yourself at your own pace, focusing on the process and enjoying it, and to dance with intention. Giuseppe and Ksenia are a fantastic team – inspiring as individual artists and when they dance together. I appreciate their supportive and considerate teaching style, especially where things get tough for me physically. I always feel like I have learnt a great deal in the group dance classes because they are explained so well, and you never feel left out. They both really pay at— S
There are many great dancers that teach in the London area, but I have met few who have as strong of a passion, skills, and genuine interest in teaching as Giuseppe. I started dancing competitive Ballroom (proam) with Giuseppe in 2019 at which point I had already been dancing for 12 years. It was a transformative experience! Up to that point no teacher had ever asked me whether a particular move was comfortable for me, and was so open to modifying it to be comfortable to execute while being technically correct. This preps the body to advance your technique and dancing at a more accelerated pac— Kat M
Best professional teaching in town! For beginers a super easy way to learn. I learned from scratch! For improvers amazing to learn from competing professionals!— Anna Blasik
Yes. Many people take private tuition or classes on their own and progress well, with the teacher acting as a partner during lessons.
Comfortable clothes you can move freely in are ideal, along with smooth-soled shoes that let you turn without gripping the floor. Nothing special is needed to begin.
Costs depend on whether you take private lessons or group sessions, and how often you attend. It is best to contact the academy for current rates.
A gentler ballroom style with a clear rhythm is a common starting point, though the right choice depends on your goals. The teachers can guide you towards a good fit.
Adults often start with a straightforward ballroom dance where posture and timing are easy to build on. A first lesson is the simplest way to find what you enjoy.
Gentle dancing can be a pleasant form of activity, but anyone with a heart condition should check with their doctor first and let the teacher know of any limits.
