Dancing In The Street is a specialist dance shop based at Sleaford Enterprise Park in Sleaford, Lincolnshire. It supplies dancewear and footwear across many styles, from pointe shoes and ballroom shoes to Irish dance costumes. The shop serves dancers and their families both in store and through its website. It is a go-to retailer rather than a teaching studio.
Customers repeatedly praise the exceptional service, from careful pointe-shoe fittings in store to quick deliveries and helpful, responsive handling of returns and exchanges. Staff are described as knowledgeable and genuinely attentive, making a first visit impressive for parents and dancers alike. It suits anyone who wants expert help choosing the right dance kit.
As a retailer, Dancing In The Street stocks equipment rather than running dance lessons, so there is no class timetable here. What you will find instead is a broad range of footwear and dancewear, including expert pointe-shoe fitting for young dancers. Whether you need ballroom shoes, ballet slippers or costume pieces, the shop can advise on the right choice. For actual dance classes in Sleaford you would look to a local teaching studio, while the shop equips you for them.
A first visit for something like a pointe-shoe fitting is handled attentively, with staff taking care to get the fit right. Bring any relevant details from your teacher about the shoes or kit you need, and allow time for a proper fitting. Expect friendly, unhurried service whether you shop in person or online.
The shop is located on an enterprise park in Sleaford, reachable by road with the convenience of an out-of-town retail setting, and it also serves customers nationwide online. Checking opening hours and whether an appointment is needed for fittings is worthwhile.
Hi we have visited dancing in the street for the first time this morning as my daughter had an appointment to fit her pointe shoes. I would just like to say how impressed I was with not only the member of staff but with everything that your store has to offer. My daughter was so relaxed and loved every second of the experience. Nothing was too much trouble. Honestly, I’m so sorry I can’t remember the ladies name that served us but honestly she was absolutely 5 star. We are due to come back in October and my girls are so excited already and are making lists. I’d like to wish you all the s— Rachel Odell
Best customer services i have had for years. When I bought the pair of ballroom shoes from your Website, I never thought I would get them delivered on the next day. But unfortunately the shoes glue has came off, when I sent email told the issue, the customer service Emily replied to me very quickly, and then I have received my replacement and return postage in just days. I wish all of the other companies have the same customer service that you have, then life will be much easier. You should be very proud of your well trained staff and teamwork.— Alice Borg
What an exceptional company!!!!
This is the first time I have purchased from Dancing In The Street and it won't be the last. I ordered an irish dance dress for my daughter which arrived within 2 days, unfortunately it was too small so it had to be returned but the replacement arrived in record time and then I received my refund without any problems the same week. The service I received is above and beyond anything I expected and I won't hesitate to shop here again. Thank you so much for such a pleasant shopping experience.— Caroline Dytham
My daughter has been dancing for 11+ years now and while we’ve ordered online and has great service in the past we needed pointe shoes this time and these required fitting. Amazing service from a trained staff member (apologies for possible memory loss but I think this was Vicky) who took time to make sure my daughter got what she needed with the best fit. Everything we needed was reasonably priced and there was lots of choice in store. Thanks again, we’ll be back!— Jo Coppin
Yes, many styles such as ballet and street are danced solo, so no partner is required. For lessons you would visit a teaching studio, while a shop like this supplies the shoes and kit.
Comfortable clothing you can move freely in, plus footwear suited to the style, is the general rule. Staff at a dance shop can help you choose the right shoes once you know which class you are joining.
Class prices are set by individual teaching studios rather than a retailer, so they vary widely. Contact a local dance school directly for their current fees.
Approachable starting points include ballet for structure or salsa for something sociable, depending on your interests. Whichever you pick, the shop can supply suitable footwear.
Adults often begin with a style that appeals to them personally, such as ballroom, Latin or ballet. Once you have chosen, getting properly fitted shoes makes a real difference to comfort.
Gentle movement can benefit many people, but anyone with a heart condition should check with their doctor first. Comfortable, well-fitting footwear helps make any activity easier on the body.
